Was in town for a wedding/reception. The fact that the hotel offered a shuttle service to & from the nearby reception was nice, but I like to have my car handy, so we didn't use it. There was a HUGE motorcycle rally happening on the hotel grounds. They had their party set up on the far end of the property, opposite the lobby. The sheer number of bikes & bikers made it a nightmare to park. They somehow got access to a bunch of road cones and were blocking off parking spaces for themselves, keeping other guests from using empty spots. One member of our party had to move some cones just to park because even though it was blocked off, no one was using the spot. They had their motorcycles parked on sidewalks and some of the ones with exterior room doors even parked their bikes right next to their doors. Rain moved into the area in the evening so the bikers moved their party inside. Luckily we were at the reception till about 10pm, but the time we did spend at the hotel wasn't the best experience. They'd fill the hallways, get in our way, and showed very little courtesy. I ride a Harley myself so I've been around bikers. These were some of the rudest bunch of riders I've ever met. Not just rude bikers, but rude people in general. We're not talking stereotypical biker gang types, not that rough of a bunch, but they didn't have any respect for other guests. The cops finally came through about 2am to quiet them down.

By morning, the hotel grounds were a mess. Trash was thrown everywhere...all over the courtyards, grass areas, sidewalks & parking lots. Some members of our party even saw used condoms laying around. Great thing to see when you have kids with you. Can't imagine what we would've done if we had come back from the reception to see people doing that in common areas or on their balconies. We probably would've gotten our money back & left.

It was nice to have a hot breakfast buffet instead of just a continental, but I have to be honest, it was horrible. The scrambled eggs were a runny mush. The gravy for the biscuits was the most watery gravy I've ever seen in my life. So watery that it wouldn't even stay on the biscuits, it'd just puddle on the plate. Everything was bland. And again, all the rude bikers made it that much worse. Nowhere to sit, we had to eat at the bar. They'd butt in line to get what they wanted. They'd stand in our way & made no effort to move or say excuse me. If this is the type of people Champaign/Urbana has to offer, I don't care if we never go back. At least the front desk girl was nice.

No elevators here, so be wary. The room was fairly nice. During the heat of the day, the A/C couldn't really cool it down completely, even at its coolest setting with the fan on max. The bathroom was miserably hot, which made getting ready a pain. The half dozen or so huge lightbulbs lined up over the sink made it even hotter when they were on. Many of the TV channels were fuzzy. Wifi was decent in our room, but practically non-existent in one of the other suites we visited. The groom's parents had reserved a block of rooms for several of us in the family, but the hotel spread us all out. We were a few rooms down from one group we knew, but everyone else was on different floors or placed in some of the detached suite buildings. I think once they reserved all the rooms for the bikers, we got shuffled around and spread apart because some members of our party got rooms they didn't originally ask for. If that's the case, I don't appreciate them looking out for a bunch of disrespectful bikers and not families, some with kids. We did go into one of the loft suites. They were nice, but they complained of the upstairs loft area being quite hot.

Some might say I shouldn't let the bikers affect my review, but when a hotel invites such clientele to have their huge party on hotel grounds, then lets them all stay there, that reflects badly on the hotel. We probably would've had a better experience had it not been for the bikers, but I have to take into consideration their decision to let a group like that stay & party at their establishment. That's something that affects guests' opinions as to what type of business they run. A group like that is bound to make a mess and disturb guests. They should've easily seen that coming. Instead, they appeared not to care and simply gave the bikers the run of the place. On the plus side, it does look like they've taken an old facility and did some work to make it better.

Room Tip: If you have trouble with stairs, ask for a ground floor room. No elevators here.

Stayed for one night in one of the king suites. Room was clean and cool upon arrival. Quick and easy check-in. Hotel is older but well maintained. Indoor pool is huge unlike many hotel pools. Pool area is very humid but there is an outdoor patio area. Homemade pizza onsite was decent and convenient. Would stay again.

This hotel is older but has been renovated. Attractive appearance but typical problems that come with an older property. Electrical outlets are few and hold plugs only loosely. Very slow drain in the shower. Staff were pleasant and very accommodating. We were part of a bus tour and the hotel provided us with a very nice wine and cheese reception. Breakfast was good with multiple protein options.

In Urbana for a family event. Was impressed with other reviews. This place did not disappoint. Friendly staff and standard American-style buffet breakfast. Enough good stuff (oats, eggs, fruit) for the health conscious and junk (french toast, sausage, sugary cereals, etc) for everyone else. I gave 4 stars because for the class of hotel this is, it is good.
