Service was OK.

Food the same.

But be warned CHECK YOUR BILL.

We had things added to ours that we didn't order or get on the table.

Also if you are a nonsmoker and it's a nice day as it was last Saturday and the main door is kept open don't sit just inside the door on the right as smoke from people sat just outside the door smoking blowes in.

If I had been on my own I would have moved but there were 10 of us so not practical.

Such a beauty of a pub. People may get drawn in by the pub next door. But this place is sooooo much better. It has a local “boozer” charm indoors with none of the pretentious faux good time atmosphere of chain pubs. The garden is lovely and on days like today perfect for kids and dogs with the river. Great menu honestly I can’t talk highly enough of this place

We chose to eat here on the busy Easter weekend as the pub along the road had a wait of over an hour on food orders and we were starving!

I think it’s fair to say this is the pub that is probably more frequented by locals and has plenty of drinkers rather than diners, but this was no issue as the restaurant part of the pub was effectively a separate half of this pub...and I have to say from the outside as well as internally this outlet has a warmth about it with its traditional build and decor.

Staff were friendly and the food was very acceptable. The batter in particular on my fish & chips was lovely & crispy. The beef & bacon burger was also nice and the prices were very reasonable.

Overall, this is a very good standby eatery if you like pub grub in relaxed surroundings.

We visited the pub on a trip down memory lane tour. The welcome was warm, the service was with a smile, food served quickly and was delicious and very well presented. We felt treated like valued customers and the meal was great value for money. Would definitely recommend it.
