Having looked at some of the previous reviews there is a common theme here....ongoing building works and a slightly quirky hotel.
Having experienced a privately and family run hotel in my distant past, these type of projects can suck up money, time and attack the nervous system - and perhaps the Woodland has fallen into the trap. Trying to be high end, but at the same time the up keep of an old building means that some of the finishing touches are a bit of a way off. However don't let that put you off - if you want a comfortable nights rest.
The actual accommodation is very good - modern rooms, well furnished, good size with wi-fi (the amount of places that don't have wi-fi in the 21st century still amazes me. A good hearty breakfast, bar is small but has a few local beers and fine for a drink.
The owner is friendly, chatty and certainly adds character to the place.
For £65 it's cheap (I am from the South East so that price is a bargain)More
