We have stayed here several times and in a few different rooms. The place doesn't disappoint. The cook to order breakfast in the mornings is always good and fresh. The beds are comfortable and rooms are clean.
Only room for two in the rooms so not a family place. Great place to stay and tour the IU campus and the area.
You can book online which is also a plus but note the charge for any cancellations.

We've visited Bloomington before but this was our first stay @ Showers Inn. Air-conditioning was a welcome relief from our long day on the road. The common areas are gracious and the gardens and patios are lovely. Sandburg Room was perfectly comfortable. Help with getting luggage up the staircase to our room was very helpful. Breakfast buffet was generous and our eggs were cooked to order by the chef. Lingered before our departure on the front porch swing.

Showers Inn is a nicely renovated mansion that's walking distance from downtown (and our son's apt.). Rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with fridge, microwave, and a handy in-wall dock to play your iPod through the ceiling speakers. Parking is in the adjacent private lot off the alley. For breakfast, there is cereal and fruit, plus they'll make any simple hot breakfast (eggs, meat), but no fresh bakery items. Our only problem was inconsistent (mostly off) hot water, brought on by a malfunctioning tankless water heater. They offered to let us switch rooms, but I was content to use the shower in the vacant room across the hall. They said the tankless heaters are an ongoing issue, but this was the first time (in three stays) that we had a problem. The second floor of the Composer House (Annex) has a nice balcony with a swing that's perfect for summer nights. The people are friendly and want you to be happy with your stay. Don't forget to raid the cookie jar in the lobby (oatmeal this time).

Room Tip: If you don't mind stairs, second floor may have balcony access.

We each had been on extended work cycles for weeks on end. When mission end came, we chose her work site, Bloomington, as where we would regenerate. The Showers Inn was the PERFECT place to be our home for those four days. Well appointed, with caring staff, it was easy walking distance of great nightlife and eating.

We unconditionally recommend the Showers Inn

Room Tip: Any room is good. The Stardust Suite, our room, had a couples shower. That's something we are planning now for our home.

I lucked into a room for a very busy weekend in Bloomington and was I ever fortunate. Showers Inn is a charming and comfortable B and B that is very clean, very friendly and with the most comfortable bed ever. There is a separate parking lot, which is a plus in a parking starved town. You will pass through what will soon be a beautiful flowered courtyard on the walk from the lot to the building. There is a fountain, brick walks and some seating. All that was missing was Spring! I'm sure in a few weeks that it will be gorgeous.

The location is terrific if you want to walk to town or campus, but along with that convenience comes the noise of the students who live nearby, so know that if you are a light sleeper, the neighbors and the wooden floors could be an issue. I felt these were part of the charm.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. If you have a special dietary request for breakfast, they will happily help you.

The building itself is on the National Register of Historic places so there are lots of idiosyncrasies and interesting details to notice and enjoy.

One big issue potential travelers should know is that there can be LOTS of stairs. So, if your luggage is heavy or you are unable to negotiate stairs, this may not be a proper choice for your needs.

Overall, I checked out feeling very grateful and fortunate for having found this gem. I will be returning the next time I spend the night in Bloomington.
