Great vegetarian restaurant. There is no fish on the menu.
Everything is vegan. Food is fresh and wonderful.
Even my son who is not a vegan enjoyed this place. Try it out.
Great location.

"Meatasaurusses" may want to stay away. The Owlery, the name was inspired by the Harry Potter series, caters to vegetarians and vegans. We were pleasantly surprises when we visited the Owlery.

Typically and if we are lucky, we find one or two vegan items on a menu. Not so, here. The entire menu is dedicated to non-meat dishes and every dish is offered as a vegan option (i.e. vegan cheese).

The restaurant, bare bones with metal chairs, sparse decor and lots of owls, is located downtown on the north side of the square. But those of you who look for reasonably priced vegan/vegetarian won't be disappointed.

The menu contains a number of appetizers, main courses, burgers, chicken, salads and lots of vegan desserts/cakes.

- We had fries with gravy and cheese (in the appetizer section), a generous helping that is enough for a small meal.
- We also ordered hummus with fresh veggies and pita bread. The bread was a bit chewy - we've had better - but the hummus was obviously homemade.
- The third item was the cobb salad and my favorite with "bacon" and "chicken" and vegan ranch dressing. Delicious.

They have beers on tap, i.e. Upland, reasonable at $2.80 and even $1 cans of (cheap) beer.
Sundays, they offer a brunch after 10 a.m.

The service was courteous and relaxed. We'll be back soon.

We wanted to run in this cute vegetarian restaurant to try. OMG we were seated immediately, given the menu, waited a little for our order to be taken, then nothing but appologies for 45 minutes. We did got at lunch time so it was busy, but when to people go out to eat? Lunch and Dinner time! They should have been better prepared for increased guests at lunch. The excuse was "wow were are just really busy right now". It was an average lunch crowd. Not all tables full but most, but they still had about 6 open tables. We had to get our food to go because we had an appointment. We had to wolf our food down in the business breakroom (after it was cooled off). I think the food would be good, but hard to tell at this point. I will never know because I will never go back. Sorry Owlery you seem like a nice bunch of people.

The Owlery turns tofu, seitan, and delicious grains and veggies into the best comfort food in town. From its vegetarian reubens and BLTs to its sweet potato fries, the Owlery has everything I crave. Great carryout service and fair prices. The Owlery is a must for vegetarians in Bloomington.

The new location for the Owlery is conventiently located in the main square of Bloomington. The food is healthy and delicious! The staffing is light, so I wouldn't recommend it if you are in a hurry (30 minutes or less), but the food and service are well worth the wait!
