Description: At Mother Bear's, we have established ourselves as an icon of the Bloomington, IN community and welcome many students, alumni, and local residents into our restaurant every day. Customers are welcome and encouraged to bring a Sharpie to your name on our wooden booths. Our unique dining environment also features an eclectic collection of local art. We are best-known for our traditional pan pizza but also offer sesame-seed thin crust and deep-dish options. All three choices are made with our homemade dough! Not in the mood for pizza? We also offer crisp salads, hot sub sandwiches, wings, and pasta dishes. To complete your meal, try one of our warm, homemade brownies. Ordering for carry-out or delivery? Try our most popular deal: the Munchie Madness! A 10” one-topping pizza, an order of breadsticks or cheese bread, two homemade brownies, and a 2-liter bottle of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Sierra Mist, Dr. Pepper, or Mountain Dew, all for $12.95! We also serve beer and wine with many selections from local breweries. We are consistently named the Best Pizza in Bloomington by Indiana Daily Student Poll, and People Magazine named us one of America’s Top Nine Pizzarias! Whether you're new to Bloomington or just stopping for a visit, please stop by to enjoy what we have to offer!

I always check trip advisor for restaurant suggestions when visiting a new place. I was surprised to see a pizza place rated number one. Our family of five, visiting our son in Bloomington, wanted a easy, inexpensive dinner, Mama Bear's was the choice. Three beers, a soda and 2 large pizzas for under $50! We had a large Monet thin crust and a large pepperoni and sausage pan crust. Both were excellent. The pizza really was some of the best I've eaten! If I lived here I would be a regular.
We waited about 5 minutes for a table at 8:15 on a Saturday night, (school is not in session yet). Although it was crowded, we were served quickly. The drinks were delivered very fast! The dining room was clean. Menu had plenty to offer non pizza eaters.

Seeing anything rated #1 always makes it a target, but it is difficult to argue with this one.

The pizza is as good as you have probably ever had. The atmosphere walks the line between college-oriented and reasonably classy very well. There is nothing wrong with either, but you rarely see them blended this well.

Service is informative, reasonably efficient, and very pleasant. You get the impression that these people love this place and feel fortunate to be a part of its gloried history.
And all the customers seemed to be happy, engaged, and having fun. I dislike places where the patrons look like they are detached and are just there to avoid hunger.

All this is based on first impressions. I assure you that we will be back.

Thanks for a nice lunch experience.

Graffiti everywhere. Monet pizza and pitcher of local beer very satisfying after long day of moving. Server willing to explain menu and make recommendations. Hot, made to order pizza with great crust came relatively quick. Would go again.

The host was very flexible and seated the five of us quickly on a Sat. night. I am not a big fan of deep dish, bready crust, but this is some good pie. Good ingredients and well cooked. For the most part, the Special pizzas do not have any price break from ordering it by ingredient - they are more like recommended combinations. The beer was a great deal (less than four bucks for a pint of Alpha King!) Don't get your hopes up for a great Caesar salad.

Nostalgic trip down memory lane as I was a student at IU until 2004. Pizza and breadsticks were lovely as always, server was very kind. Of course the restaurant itself is a hole in the wall.. you go there knowing that. it's part of the experience.
