“Top Notch!”

This is our third time at Murphy Guest House and as always everything was perfect. Ann is a wonderful host who pays close attention to detail. Everything is spotless and decorated just right. From the tray of goodies in the room, (including chocolate covered strawberries with our initials on them) to the absolutely delicious breakfast to the large selection of loose teas, along with the beautiful garden with large fountain, it all makes for a wonderful, unforgettable stay and you will want to return again.
We did enjoy the new addition, cute little Pixie! (Ann's little dog) She made us feel right at home as we also have little doggies.

Ann's attention to detail and her ability to make guests feel welcome and important was amazing. As we arrived we were welcomed with cookies and coffee or tea. Signs of welcome were outside the bedrooms, and inside was a delicious snack of cheese, crackers, grapes and huge chocolate covered strawberries with our initials on them! In the hall was a freezer with ice cream and ice cream novelties!
Breakfast was huge and delicious, again with lovely touches to make guests feel welcomed and important. She was a wealth of information about the area and gave us CDs for our trip on the Heritage Trail. The house was lovely, and no old "musty smells"!! Then there is her gorgeous garden, complete with a swing/glider, for reading and a snooze on a sunny day.
This is the nicest B&B I have ever stayed at, and I hope to go back.

The Murphy Guest House in Bristol IN provided me a pleasant stay during my recent Notre Dame Football weekend trip. I offer a number of compliments below.

The breakfasts served during my Nov 2013 stay were Stately Feasts. Breakfast typically started off with homemade pastries and breads accompanied with homemade curds and jams. Second courses featured bowls of warm poached fruit in compote of juices, spice, and … a doddle of butter. Final courses featured egg dishes and meats. Extraordinary culinary flourish went into each serving of every meal.

Ann, the proprietor, accommodates special dietary needs of guests. One morning, Ann’s guests were treated to a quiche whose ingredients included cow milk and flour for the crust. Having learned the night before that I limit my lactose and gluten intake, Ann specially baked me a crust-less quiche made with soymilk. The quiche was tasty, and it was filling.

Ann is also somewhat of a tea aficionado; she stocks an offering of at least 50 different kinds of loose-leaf teas which she keeps in sealed glass containers arrayed on shelves in dining room.

Murphy Guest House provided a very nice stay, and I recommend the B&B to other travelers.

Room Tip: For location, I rate Bristol IN as a 3.5 star (out of 5). Apart from the roadways into town that se...

This was my first B&B stay, and Ann has truly set the bar high for others in the future. Everything about the stay was amazing. Ann was accommodating with a late check in and early check out; the welcome plate of cheese, crackers, grapes, and chocolate covered strawberries was delicious; the breakfasts were extraordinary (everything was great, but the lavender bread was absolutely amazing)... The only thing lacking was a TV in the room, which is always nice to fall asleep to, but easy to do without. I will definitely be looking to stay here in the future, and although the distance to Notre Dame is farther than other places to stay in the area, it's worth it.

Room Tip: We only stayed in Camryn's room, but it's a great option!

After 20 some years of B&Bs, we think this is the best one we have found. Ann's attention to detail and knowledge of the local area is awesome; plus she is willing to advise without being bossy. We loved all the small details and amenities which were there but not over the top. The beds are comfortable and the food amazing. We don't often go back to B&Bs because there are so many to try; this one is the exception. I would say there is a lot to do in the area if you enjoy walking, scenic peaceful drives and learning about an area and culture, which we do. The quilt garden tour is fun, well organized and Ann can give the audio guide and lots of details!

bristol is close to the main amish area,,truthfully,,a nice area but not much going on,,but,if you are staying any where in that area i think you would be very happy at this b and b,,anne,,the owner and host,,is overly attentive to ever need,,this seems to be her main passion in life,,she loves to cook and spoiled us with the breakfast options and daily mid afternoon treats and always a bedtime snack,,she made my wife a glutin free brown with homemade orange glaze,,,anne really made the visit seem like staying with a friend,,,i only gave a 4 because i consider 5 star only for the ultimate top,,,but this place was nice,,we stayed for 3 nights..

No one will make you feel more welcomed and more at home than Ann at Murphy's Guest House. From the moment we arrived she was friendly and warm. She even made me gluten free snacks and breakfast when she found out I was gluten intolerant.

The inn is in a great location, nicely decorated and all at a great value. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: One of the rooms has a fireplace.
