Disgusting, toilets were not even secured to the floor, was a special place for me and wife, now it's falling apart and furthermore they don't care, I've tried emailing and calling and gotten nowhere with the management.

This hotel has lots of potential but right now has lots of problems. Under new management for only a month I will list the problems. I am not a complainer but if you book at a "spa inn" you expect more. Rooms are large with nice views (lake more of a frog pond but interesting) lots of space for a microwave & fridge but there are none. Bedding needs replacing right away as well as the hallway carpet. No complimentary breakfast. No pet policy but there was a dog next door with the occupants absent & it barked continuously til 1 am!!! Management did nothing about it but offer to move US to another room in the middle of the night. Slept with my MP3 player in my ears! Pool area - tiny pool, tile broken around the hot tub railings, garbage in ladies restroom was atrociously smelly & overflowing, weeds growing up through the deck. Outdoor garbage overflowing as well ( we stayed Mon - Thurs so no one really around & garbage just not emptied). Screen door fell off track in our room. I can tell they are TRYING to improve this hotel & I was told they are making improvements. Also, the website makes it looks like it's out in the country - it's not. It's behind a strip mall of a busy intersection. The view from the room is good though . It is convenient to everything! Was formerly a wing of a Best WEstern which is still there. Walked over there - not much better. Spa personnel were friendly & services good. For the price I guess it was okay but would hope the new ownership would turn this place around. It has potential...

Clean, and a decent place to stay, with a view of Lake Chubb from every room (slightly picturesque). This place reminded me of a cross between the movies "Psycho" and "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel." Customer service was minimal, and the halls were very long and a little eery...especially because there were not too many other patrons. It looked like this had once been a great conference center. With a little attention to lighting, upkeep, and friendlier staff this place could come back into its own.

As my wife had a gift voucher for the Waterbird spa, we decided to combine that with a trip to the Indiana Dunes. Our hearts dropped when we realized the sa-tnav was not lying when it directed us to find the inn within a strip mall. As a motel it's fine, with the added bonus of a view from every room's balcony on to the pond. The architecture shields the rooms from the noise of the strip mall and the busy 4 way intersection that the inn is located by, but not from the noise of the frequent trains. We were close to the dunes, and no doubt some people enjoy the convenience of being in a strip mall. But if you're looking for a spa-like experience, try the Grey Goose Inn that is tucked away on the shore of the same pond. If not, you may do just as well in the Best Western that adjoins the Lakeside Inn.

I just recently stayed at the hotel/inn and chose it because from the website it looked to be a decent establishment. The pictures made it look well kept and a relaxing place. When we got there mid afternoon we found out that they were doing renovations which were not mentioned on the website inside and the pavement being refinished which meant we had to park in the walgreens parking lot. The outside was some what decent. Upon entering the Inn we were greeted with a sign on the guest check in that said for service look behind you and answer the black phone, it rang 20 times before someone said they would be right there. It took us 30 minutes to check in because they had to make sure they put us in a room that they didnt have to switch us in mid stay. Now at any hotel/inn there should always be someone at the front desk in case of emergencies.... When we finally were able to get to our room we walked down a couple halls which had damaged wall tiles and stains and a faint smell to the whole place. They tried to i guess remove the smell with a candle that was always lit and never attended too. several rooms had construction going on and we could clearly see into them and mattresses were piled in the hallway. We got to our room where we found the room to be bigger then most suites but there was no fridge or microwave. For the price and size of room i would have thought it would have come with those. there was a balcony that i was slightly nervous to go on because of what i had just walked through, it looked old and there were spider webs every where, it had clearly not been cleaned in a long time. The bed was the only thing i would say was good. It was comfortable thats it. the sheets where the wrong size so the fit sheet was always coming off, carpet was old, the bathroom vanity was recently redone and it was sub pare. You could see where the old one was and all the pipes were exposed and a recent leak left a stain under the sink. there was not enough light in the room either. one can light by the bathroom and 3 lamps scattered through out. Now as for entering the hotel, you had 4 entrances, 3 side and the main. our first 2 keys would not open any of the side doors, we asked for another and they opened the middle door only. we were the last room at the back and the last door is where we should have entered. We asked about the continental breakfast the next morning and we were told it was next door at the best western.... As for our checkout i had a 8 am flight and we had to leave by 5am so we could get me to the airport. We told them at checkout that we were checking out at 5am. My boyfriend gathers our stuff and puts some stuff in the car. Now he tries to get back in the door and none of them work and the Main entrance is locked and no one on staff is there luckily i was still up stairs and i could let him back in. We get me situated on the plane and he heads back to the hotel to pay and the front desk was very rude to him when he asked why no one was here and we told you we had a 5am flight meaning if you knew we were leaving you could have given us a bill the day before and we would have paid. Needless to say this Hotel/INN was highly disappointing, and this was supposed to be a relaxing vacation away from the stresses of our lives.

It was so relaxing. My boyfriend and I needed a place to stay that was half way between where we both lived. Being apart in a relationship is tuff but being able to see each other and to stay at a place like WaterBird with the beautiful view makes it a lot easier. The room was very clean and the bed was extremly comfortable. The view was really pretty expecially in the evenings when the sun went down. The hottub was really relaxing with the soft tunes they had playing in the background. Also the fruit in the mornings was amazing very fresh. The hotel was very quiet which was really nice compared to most hotels when you can hear everyone that passes by your door. We had a great time and the staff was extremly nice. We would def stay again.
