I stayed with Gamunu, Yesantha & their housemaid Radha last March 2013.
You will be made to feel as though you are part of the family, & you will be cooked delicious vegetarian dishes 3 times a day (if you don't go out for visits)
Gamunu has alot of 'local' knowledge & can arrange trips to suit your needs. There can be visits to the many Temples that are on the island, visits to seaside resorts with fishing communities & markets, exploring the mountains & beautiful scenery of Sri Lanka, & many other things to see that most tourists will never get to find out about. One such thing that sticks in my mind was an impromptu call at a roadside cafe on our way back from Kandy (Royal City) where the lady who runs the place gave us wonderful local dishes with many side plates & endless refills for just 100 rupees, which is just over $1 or less than an English pound!
It would be a different & great way to see Sri Lanka for mature singles/couples of any age or even small groups as Gamunu has access to sleeping accomodation within easy access of the main house where food & some lodging is provided.(as well as endless pots of tea provided by the lovely Radha!)
