“Cool Place! ”
Reviewed 7 July 2014 via mobile

The burger and fries were very good considering it's an ice cream place. Didn't care for the cherry coke soda. Tasted completely fake. But I guess that's how it was back in the old days?

“Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah for Zaharako's!”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

This 1900 historic landmark is a beautiful piece of American nostalgia! I ordered a single-scoop hot fudge sundae which was served with fudge in the bottom and a separate gravy boat of topping! It was excellent, but the real gasp-moment is this relic of a museum, retaining a piece of old America. The surroundings are dripping in rich oak wood and marble. There are double soda fountains, syrup dispensers, leaded-stained glass windows, old cash registers and mechanical music machines. Drop a quarter in and become mesmerized!

“Come for the ice cream”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

This is a fabulous place for ice cream, however, the food is mediocre at best. The chili is bland, as if they forgot chili pepper. Hamburger nothing to write home about. However, the place is literally a museum of ice cream parlors, and a must see.

“A fantastic piece of American history, go and enjoy it”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

I was taken here whilst in Columbus on business recently. My host, a local, wanted me to see the place, and I can see why.
Belonging to the same family for over a hundred years, the place had fallen into disrepair in the early part of the 21st century. A local businessman decided it should be preserved and set about saving it for the locals and the nation. After much time and a considerable amount of investment, the place re opened in 2009.
Fantastic marble countertops, wooden panelling and of course authentic soda fountains this place is a great draw, for locals and also for many visitors who come here just to visit Zaharako's or The Greeks as it was also known locally in years gone by. There are also many stunning sheet organs on display, and often used to entertain during the day.
I had a great ham and cheese sandwich followed of course by some ice cream.
If you live locally, you are very very lucky indeed. If not, then do take the time and effort to find yourself in Columbus Indiana and get yourself into Zaharako's. I would go out of my way to revisit this fantastic living piece of yester-year.
