“Good And Bad”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2006

Wife and I stayed at Caesars in Indiana on Jan 12, 2006. Checkin was fast, very friendly staff and room was probably average for a riverboat casino. King size bed, non smoking, clean.

The buffet is really nothing special, for 16$ a person and have found we can eat at a sit down restaurant called Legends for about the same. And the huge portions of food (much like Vegas) was great. Huge salads, ribs falling off the bone, chicken to die for and a very nice real baked in the oven potato. With 2 drinks, only 5$ more than the buffet would have cost and much better. Skip the buffet, have a much better meal in Legends.

Changes have taken place in the casino, and not all is good. The non smoking slots are on the first deck, and the selection of machines is horrible at the best. Wife likes the penny machines and they are impossible to get and people are waiting behind each other for one to come open. Also, since Harrah's took over, the machines have really tightened up. We played a bit, saw how they were, and quit rather than throw our money away.

The craps tables no longer have a 5$ min as all tables are now 10$ and go to 15$ after dark. Leaves out a lot of little low rollers like me out in the cold. I have always enjoyed craps and would play as much as 6 hours.

Also the price of a drink, beer and wine has also increased.

We liked Caesars, went up 4,5 maybe 6 times a year. If things remain they way they are, this was probably our last trip. And that is sad, as it used to be a really fun place.

We stayed here the Friday after Thanksgiving. The rooms were clean and spacious. The pool and hot tub were nice amenities. The seafood dinner and brunch buffet were excellent, though pricey. The casino also had late night made-to-order dining available (very convenient). The casino itself was very crowded. It was difficult to find a spot even at the high-minimum craps tables. Definitely bring money on weekend nights. You won't find $5 minimum tables.

I would stay at this casino again.

Wife and I stayed at Caesars Indiana for the first time Aug. 19th & 20th for our weekend getaway & anniversary.
Made reservations from there website without any complications. We arrived at 9pm, check in lasted less than 10 minutes, VERY FRIENDLY & NICE CHECK IN STAFF.
Room was a standard deluxe king, non smoking, VERY NICE. No signs of prior smoking in the room. Room & bathroom very clean and spacious. Pillows a little on the hard side for me. Walls are either thin or the guy next door snored very loud, because our second night I was awoken by the snoring. Actually the wife and I got a laugh out of it.
Couln't believe all the kids running around, didn't care much for the yelling at 6 am in the hallways. No daycare there for adults to pawn the kids off onto. SO LEAVE THEM AT HOME NEXT TIME !
Casino was large, it's no Las Vegas but was fun. Best time to gamble on Friday's & Saturday's is in the morning, after 6pm forget trying to get a table or your favorite slot machine.
Portico restaurant very nice, had reservations but still had to wait 30 minutes to get seated. Excelent food, waitress forgot our appetizer & second round of drinks. Waitress didn't charge us for the second round due to her error twice, great gesture and very pleased with her service. Expect to spend around $100 (tip not included) for a good steak with appetizer, a couple rounds of drinks and desert for two people. A+ to the bartender on the quality of the drinks.
Would recomend to anyone to stay here for a get away weekend from the kids or a special occasion, but don't expect to come home a millionaire.

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2005

Spent three nights as a weekend getaway (July 22 through July 25). Check-in was quick; the room was clean and had a nice view of the woods. Hotel staff was courteous and accommodating. Rooms were quiet, although you may hear your neighbor's TV.

What I did not expect was a hotel filled with parents, school age-children, and infants. The pool was overrun with "cannonballers" and babies in diapers (even in the hot tub). The hotel looked like a YMCA day camp.

Food - Nero's overcooks their food - not recommended. Cleo's and Aroma Cafe is perfect for breakfast or a cheaper dining option. Dinner at the Villa Buffet is good. Did not eat at Portico's.

Bar - Legends was terrific!! Great entertainment and generous drinks. Bartenders are fun - juggling bottles and balancing bar glasses on the back of their hands.

Casino - A fairly long walk away. Slots are tight! Blackjack lessons with DJ were fun and worthwhile for us beginners.

Overall, this is definitely a place for families, not couples or singles or anyone looking for a Vegas-like experience.

My family and I just did a girl's weekend at Caesar's Indiana. We stayed in the hotel on Saturday night. The service was great. Staff was very friendly. We had a great time at the casino and hotel. Hotel was very quiet, room was huge. We had 7 people and only two rooms, all women. We had plenty of space for all our stuff. We requested connecting rooms when we made the reservation and when we first went up to the rooms, they were not connecting. The bellman, Michael, called down to the front desk and immediatley got a new room for us to move to. The walk to the casino is a bit long, but not much longer than if you parked yourself and walked. The buffet is very expensive in my opinion. The food is great but there is no way I ate $18 worth of food.
