We stayed at this newly remodeled Holiday Inn for a family reunion over Labor Day weekend and we were very pleased with the cleanliness, front desk service we received when checking in and overall appearance and cleanliness of the hotel.
So, if you have to go to Evansville, IN for any reason and you need a hotel, this would be a good option.

Stayed with my fiancee and the room was very nice. However our room faced the pool and bar area that was very loud until 2 in the morning with a wedding. Then kids screaming in the lobby at 7am woke us up. Would stay again but request a room that does not face the pool area.

Room Tip: Get a room that doesn't face the pool area if you want to sleep at all.

We stayed at the EVV Holiday Inn over Labor day weekend. The last time I was at the EVVHI was ~ten years ago when it was run by Marriott and much better then, the place must be > 20 yrs old and beginning to show its age. Staff were very helpful checkin thru checkout. The architecture is interesting, free parking and the rooms are OK.
We did not try the restaurant but used the bar two times. On the last occasion around 11pm the place was understaffed - tables in the bar/restaurant area were unmade with supper remnants lying around - GROSS. We oput this down to problems in getting staff over the holiday weekend. The atrium can be fairly noisy with kids in the pool. Also, the wall are on the thin side, can hear the guys in the next room having their romantic encounters!
Otherwise the stay was fine, I would stay there again and give them 3/4 stars, slightly below par for the HI chain.

The hotel itself is one of the nicer Holiday Inns I've stayed at. And its probably one of the better hotels in Evansville. But its an atrium hotel so all the noise from the bar, pool, live music, and guests seems to be focused right to the rooms. And it echos and is magnified in the atrium area. This hotel does have rooms across the hall that dont face the atrium. So if you want quiet ask for those. There are plenty of restaurants within a ten minute driving distance. And dont worry about airport noise, there just arent that many flights. Did I mention that I hate atrium type hotels?

Until approx. two years ago, this hotel used to be a Marriott where my husband and I had stayed several times. This was our first time staying there in three years, the first time since it became a Holiday Inn. The transformation was unbelievably bad!

The public areas looked about the same, but our room was so grimy I did not want to touch anything. The phone was filthy even after attempting to clean it with a wipe. Ditto the HVAC vents. There was no wastebasket at the desk, only one in the bathroom. The toilet seat was cracked and chipped. There were small amounts of what appeared to be mold in the corners of the baseboards and in the grout in the tub and on the floor. The towels were worn thin; in fact, one of the washcloths had holes. The shower curtain had spots of something on the inside which could have been mold, could have been ?--I wish I had my camera with me to document these statements.--And, the room was excessively hot, even with the thermostat turned down as far as it would go.

Bottom line: It appeared that nothing had been renovated, or even maintained, since the change from Marriott to Holiday Inn.

The purpose of our trip was to visit two ill family members so we did not have time to deal with a room change. I did request a change of phone unit, someone clean the air vents so that we would not breathe the grime from them, another wastebasket, and a fan. Although it took forever to get someone to answer when we called down, the Front Desk staff said that they would have Engineering take care of everything except the fan, which they were out of because of all the other guests who had requested them. When we returned to our room, if the phone had been replaced, it was not evident and the vents were only slightly cleaner, by no means improved to the extent necessary. There was, however, a second wastebasket. And, we had purchased our own tabletop fan in order that we could cool the room enough to be able to sleep.

The staff were pleasant when listening to our complaints. They just were ineffective in improving the situation. However, to be fair, the condition of the facilities were far too severe to be improved by normal cleaning methods.

I know that Marriott has standards which are required of the hotels which carry their brand name. I thought that also would be true of Holiday Inn/ IHG. Evidently not.

My husband and I will never again stay at this hotel.

This was one of the nicest Holiday Inns I've seen. And one of the nicer places to stay at in Evansville. The lobby is very large and well decorated. The pool is actually in the lobby and has glass windows for natural light. Plenty of free parking and right near the airport with shuttle available. Free warm breakfast every morning was nice because it included eggs, sausage and ham, potatoes, cereals and fruits. Rooms are very spacious and the inner ones all have a nice balcony overlooking the inside lobby area. The only potential issue was pool noise until 10:00 but it was probably just a bad night. We would definitely stay again. Found it cheap on Hotwire.

The staff was exceptional. The breakfast was really bad and under stocked. I expected the breakfast to be at least comparable to other holiday Inn's. The room never got very cool even after asking staff to look at unit. The door lock system worked very poorly it took an upward of 6 times to get the door card to work in the doors. Multiple guest had this issue. As I said in the beginning the staff was exceptionally friendly. The hotel was very clean and the issues listed above were the only issues we had.
