Their fried chicken and homemade cinnamon rolls are the best but the rest is mediocre. And sometimes you have to wait for the chicken.

Yes, you can order off a menu also. The food is the average "institutional" type of food not really prepared in the kitchen. A lot of heated canned goods.

The price is okay, if a touch high for the style of food you get. The main eat course is cut by someone on the end of one food line, but if you want a lot you must keep asking "another slice please."

This is a great place to eat. Good country style buffet. Food is always fresh and they have a large variety. The service has never been disappointing. Great place for large group and their chartering prices are good.

My husband loves the food. Me? Not so much other than their fried chicken. As another reviewer wrote, the ambiance of the restaurant is nonexistant but you come for the food, right? The buffet consists of your usual comfort food. The kitchen staff regularly rolls out a trolley of food through the restaurant itself to replenish the buffet. Unfortunately it gives the diners an opportunity to see "fresh" salad items are GFS staples in large buckets. There is always a variety of meats on the buffet with the fried chicken an obvious favorite. A variety of simple desserts are available including a build your own sundae bar with a peculiar vat of hot fudge that is neither hot nor fudgy. Unless you are here for the Sunday after-church buffet most folks dress extremely casual. If you are hungy in Greencastle it is an okay choice and clearly a favorite of the locals.

In the area for a quick getaway. The greeter was friendly and helpful, pointing out the desserts on the buffet made without added sugar. As a diabetic, I appreciated the guidance. The server was attentive. The buffet, especially the salads and soups, were better than the norm, and the meats and vegetables were kept supplied, so the food looked/tasted fresh and not dried out or mushy, unlike some buffets. I didn't stop for the decor, but the dining room was clean, with a casual feel. The whole dining experience was fine. For folks who don't want a buffet, there were a menu and also a board listing daily specials. The place has a cocktail lounge accessible through another entrance. Our meal was unrushed, but the folks who maintained the buffet really scurried, checking on things and refilling anything that was low. Some reviewers seem to expect restaurants to cross a really high standard before they will bring themselves to say anything good. This is a homey, small town, friendly place with great variety in choice and food to satisfy a wide range of appetites. I appreciated the meal. Good for Putnam Inn!
