“Something for the whole family”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Easily accessible on foot or shuttle from downtown hotels, the Eiteljorg is a gem! Except for the Museum of the American Indian in DC, it is the only large museum focusing on American Indians and the art of the American West east of the Mississippi. The permanent galleries contain clothing and cultural artifacts, both old and contemporary, from the 10 major cultural areas of North America. There are also two galleries with art of the West from the 18th to 21st centuries, and two with contemporary Native American art. Children will delight in the 39 foot totem pole and the family activity area that includes a full-size replica of an 1876 stagecoach. They can also wear costumes in that area, and help build a sod house. "Jingle Rails," during the holiday season, is a special treat with trains circling around Indianapolis scenes and iconic sites in the West, all made of natural materials.

“Indy Treasure!”
Reviewed 12 November 2013

Great location, and easy access from downtown Indy. Provides ample parking. Easy walk if you happen to be staying downtown. Spent an afternoon at a leisure pace. Not only a great Native American exhibit, but was fortunate enough to see the Guitar Exhibit. This was one of the finest collections with all eras/ types of guitars available. Interactive guitars were available, which was fun. Also, enjoyed the gift shop. Highly recommend.

“Pleasant surprise”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

I stumbled upon this museum while walking along the canal. Great collections, informative explanations, very nice layout, very peaceful location. I learned a lot about native American culture and history in an hour. The gift shop is very well stocked with interesting items.

“Great venue for a corporate or social reception or event”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

I managed an event for 50 clients at the Eiteljorg and can't say enough good things about the experience. The museum is very interesting and a great alternative to a hotel ballroom. There are several indoor and outdoor spaces, free parking for guests and most of all great service. Kahn's provided our catering and it was fantastic, all the guests raved about how delicious the food was. The museum staff were excellent to work with and the entire event was seamless.

“A great place to grab a bite and overlook the canal.”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

Whether taking a break from the museum exhibits or just looking for a place to grab a bite and see the beautiful scenery of the canal walk in Indianapolis, the Cafe at the Eiteljorg Museum is a terrific spot. The menu is somewhat "period based", scrumptious and value priced! After ordering at the counter, if the weather permits, take a seat outside on the veranda to overlook the canal while they prepare your meal. Their friendly servers will bring your meal to your table in a jiffy!
