Whenever we're on vacation we like to stop by the residences of Presidents - we find it interesting to see how they lived. This is a well kept old house with lots of history and interesting information about Benjamin Harrison - the tour guide was well informed. They currently have an exhibit of First Lady dresses which was very interesting. Well worth the visit.

My wife and I visited President Harrison's home today. The tour lasted 75 minutes and was very informative. A number of items from the family were in the home, along with multiple pictures and portraits. A large number of First Lady gowns are on display, including Mrs Lincoln and more recent First Ladies. The home has been restored and is very interesting. The grounds are nice, with an herb garden and other features. I recommend you try a visit.

Unless it was the day that we visited, we were the only visitors the whole morning. So the tour guide gave us our own personal tour. You can save a $1 with AAA. The house is larger than you think (over 10,000 sq ft ). The hour goes thru a majority of the house. A lot of the items in the house were directly owned by the Harrison's (late 1800's) or even his grandparents. In short, if you are in the area and like history you will this 1 hr tour very informative. It's about a 35 minute walk from downtown/convention center area.

We were passing through the area headed east for vacation and stopped to take the tour. We arrived shortly after a tour started so we had to wait outside for the next tour, which actually turned out to be a good thing aince it gave us time to stroll about the grounds and enjoy the garden. We didn't know much about Harrison before touring the house, and it definitely made me want to learn more. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and kept the entire group engaged. My 12 year old really enjoyed the stop as well. I think the whole stop took less than 3 hours and it was definitely worth it.

It may seem strange to rate a rather obscure presidential site as outstanding but it is. The tour is excellent and the amount of information about the Harrison family will astonish you. At this time there are a number of dresses from First Ladies on display. Every history buff needs to do this tour.

Be sure to go to their website to make sure you follow the directions for a visit, Parking was easy on the street and they offer AAA and senior discounts.
