Embassy Suites by Hilton Indianapolis - Downtown
Ranked #98 of 186 Hotels in Indianapolis

We came down with our family of six with kids ranging in age from 8-13 for a sporting event. Classic embassy suites; decent breakfast, manager's happy hour. However this hotel needs updating-flush handle on toilet was broken, no control of heat
/cool of room (doors open on all floors to cool down hot rooms). Front desk advised us to open our window. Pool is very small. Vending machine was broken. I usually stay at embassy suites, but will never stay at this one.

We had several people from our company in Indianapolis for a trade show. In past years, we have stayed at other hotels conveniently located near the Convention Center. Since several of us are loyal Hilton Hhonors members, we decided to stay at Embassy Suites this year. We had around (13) rooms. First, the good. The hotel is a short walk (through the skyway) from the convention center. The rooms and furnishings were dated but clean. The breakfast exceptional and the staff polite and accommodating. The evening Manager's Reception is also a nice way to finish the day (and start the evening). However, the one bad thing will definitely prevent me from staying here in the future, at least until this property makes the necessary changes. The HVAC system is either set to heat in the winter or cool in the summer. My room was on the 16th floor and I could not get the room temperature below 79 degrees. THAT WAS WITH THE WINDOW OPEN ALL-DAY AND ALL-NIGHT AND THE CEILING FAN RUNNING. Outside air temperatures during my four night stay were 20-30's during the day and 10-20's during the night. Everyone in our party had the same complaint. This property definitely needs to address and update their HVAC system however I guess, that due to the cost, they will never do so until the occupancy rates begin dipping below profitable levels.

Room Tip: Bring a fan with you, I saw one other guest who had apparently stayed there before walk in with one.

Hotel staff was great and very accommodating. We arrived early in the morning for a convention and the bell man was more than happy to keep our bags till we could check in later in the day. The room was clean and quiet. Great location as we were able to walk to everything we wanted without going outside. The only improvement could be to the thermostat in the room as it was not digital and the room was always to warm or to cold.

Only allowed heat in the winter! Maybe that would be fine during the polar vortex, but the rooms were extremely stuffy even when it was 20. Only way to cool the room was to open the window and door, which turned the hotel into a block party atmosphere. This may be great if you are looking for a crazy time... but not the best for a relaxing weekend away.

Stayed here for a winter family ladies weekend. The downtown location is great with indoor access to restaurants and the City Centre mall. Our suite and the hotel property were spacious, clean and modern. Nice amenities include the manager's happy hour reception and the well stocked hot/continental breakfast with a variety of choices at each. A few problems encountered- the signage to the hotel is lacking and the parking access & drop off for guests is challenging. There is use of a special elevator for travel with anyone with walkers or wheelchairs as the lobby is on the 4th floor of this renovated building. The onsite restaurant, Claypool Grille had good food, but seems more receptive to the bar crowd than diners. Overall, the price, cleanliness, location, and amenities (including pool/whirlpool & exercise room) were all great. No problems encountered with heat in our room or living area at all & we stayed in late February. Recommend for downtown Indianapolis events, families, and group trips. Will consider this again for future trips.

hello, I recently stayed in this hotel as a guest of someone who rented a room. After the person I was with had an argument with me I was locked out of the room. The front desk clerk wasn't helpful at all and was going to put me out on the street at 4am while it was snowing and around 20° with no way home, which was 4hrs away. I had to pay $170 for a room to stay in for only a few hrs. Attempts to contact the managers hasnt made a difference!
