“Fascinating”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2014

A charming lady took us round this working windmill and gave a very informative talk in fluent English on the history, re-building and workings of the mill and the duke system. Some people might not manage the steep stairs - but its well worth it if you can.

“Good value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2014

Can be reached by No 2 tram (to end of line) then approx. 1 KM signposted walk through a lovely small village. Look out for the "Bannishing" Post, but it's well worth the effort. Our knowledgeable personal guide explained in detail the purpose and workings of Dutch windmills and the tour through this windmill (the only one open to the public in Amsterdam) was really informative. It also includes a film show of Rembrandt's life who apparently as a millers son spent a great deal of his time in this area.

“Lovely.”

This is a lovely example of a working windmill.
The guided tour is very details and gives a wonderfully understandable explanation of how this wonder really works.
I was told that this is the only windmill that is open to the public around Amsterdam, and that makes the 8 Euros ticket price even more reasonable.
no visit to the Netherland is complete without visiting a windmill, and this iconic beauty in Sloten would certainly do the trick.
Highly recommended.

“Its a must see”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 November 2013

This Windmill is just one of a few still working and the only one open to the public. The guide was pleasant and friendly and made us feel welcome. He explained the workings of a windmill and informed us that if we were not already married we could be married in the mill. They hold approx. 56 weddings a year. One of the most romantic things in the world. The only bad point about the mill is that the tram stop is a good 15 minute walk but it's worth it. The price was approx. 8 euros or Free with an Amsterdam pass.
