“nightmare from the beginning”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2008

The problems began immediately....I was staying there with my two boys...we went to our room and it was already occupied. I returned to the desk and they stated that they were having computer problems & promptly game me a new room. To my amazement....there were clothes and personal items of another guest in this room, also. Now I have keys to both rooms...thank goodness I am an honest person...they didn't ask for the other key back. I am not horrified and concerned of "our" safety staying at this facility. I am taken up to yet another room with the manager...to make sure that this one was indeed unoccupied. Ok..so we were settled into our room...along with a hoard of fruit flies. THis hotel has a "kid" friendly draw with having the small waterpark area....but only has a couple game systems available thru the tv for the entire hotel...so needless to say...my teenagers tried for 3 hours to no avail to be able to access a game. The regular pool seemed like a fun idea...but after an hours stay their eyes began to sting...as they did the rest of the night...the pool had enough chemicals to not only iritate their eyes...but their boxers and swimsuits were ruined. Won't be back....

If you are going to Lafayette, you should definitely stay here. Our family of 4 stayed overnight on our way to the Indy 500 and it was extremely clean and was an amazing value. We paid a regular rate but got an executive room, which was huge and came with little bottles of wine and a fridge (unstocked) which came in handy. The staff bent over backwards too. After we had spent some time in their indoor water park, the common dryer was full but the front desk person threw our wet suits into the one of the dryers that housekeeping uses and then delivered the dry suits and towels to our room. Also, they kept the room service open slightly late for us (and whose ever heard of room service at a Best Western, anyway?) and the food was very tasty and served hot AND it was moderately priced. The indoor water park is small but adorable but be aware that there is an extra charge for it. They have an indoor pool too that doesn't cost extra and that was empty because everyone that was swimming was at the water park. We were very, very happy with our stay here.

  • Liked — The service, the cleanliness and the value for the money.
  • Disliked — We did not know that the water park was extra, although it wasn't much extra.

I just got done spending the night at the Lafayette Best Western. The hotel was nice even though it was under construction. We were in town for a seminar at Purdue so the hotel was full. The rooms were well furnished, the only problems I had was that the person staying next door left his TV on all night and I could hear it through the walls. Another bad thing was that at 6AM there was hardly enough hot water for a shower. They did have a nice restaurant (although a little pricey) and they did have a nice free breakfast buffet. The meeting facilities were good too.

We stayed at this hotel on our way to The Mall of America via Chicago and it was wonderful. Everything was clean and nice. Located right off interstate and many restaurants handy as well as Wal-mart and Target. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Would definetely recommend this gem.

I have been staying here since 1973. It was originally built as a high-end Howard Johnson. Over the years things changed. For example the standard fair HOJO restaurant was joined by a new fine dining restaurant and the HOJO restaurant was eventually closed. Later it changed hands and was a Radisson. In it's most recent reincarnation it's a Best Western. The hotel was always been beautifully decorated and meticuously maintained. Sure, it's a 32 year old hotel; but for the most part it feels as fresh as it did when it first opened. If you can swing it I recommend upgrading to an executive room. These are larger corner rooms on the 5th and 6th floors. They have a nice sitting area and vanity. Rooms include full breakfast for two and they give you a certificate for a free appetizer and discounted cocktails at check in. Rest assured that this isn't your run of the mill Best Western. Do yourself a favor and make a dinner reservation in the adjoining Hour of Time Restaurant. Request a table on the upper level and have a drink in the sunken bar before going to the table. Trust me - you'll enjoy your stay.

Stayed there this past weekend. Staff was very helpful when I had to modify reservations a week before our arrival. They were also very friendly once we got there. The rooms were very nice and the entire place in is in excellent shape. The hotel is located near the Interstate and many franchise eating establishments. There is also a Walmart Supercenter and a Target nearby. Our stay included a breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, toast, muffins, and danish. My kids can be picky, but they had no problem eating here.
