“excellent hotel and inn great place to stay”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

Hello, me and my Husband James live only 45 minutes down the road from the inn but we have stayed there 3-4 times, we are really impressed with this hotel, its a little high priced but over all its cozy and clean and fun places to go to stay, it reminds me of a college campus with dorms. the people who work there are friendly and helpful the rooms are clean and spacious and have a microwave and fridge in every room, which is excellent for a hotel, the first time we stayed there was last yr in 2013, i was not impressed with the side with no elevator, we had to take it because it was the only room available, it was disappointing because Iam heavy have health issues, climbing stairs was hard on me, and no elevator, they need to build a elevator on the side without one, Bur the atmosphere over all gets a high vote with me. we drove to madison to eat last night june 7 2014, and stopped in at the clifty inn, and sit in the family room for hours watching a movie on their tv,. and relaxing before we drove home. I love this inn,. its a toss up between there and springmill inn,. they are diffrent but both are great, I like clifty;s atmosphere better in lots of ways more modern facilities than springmill innn and state park, I love clifty falls inn the beds are clean maid service is excellent good food in the resturant ( a bit over priced) but good overall.

Room Tip: always when you make a reservation make sure you ask for the side with the elevator, its more costly...

My sister and I specifically chose the Clifty Inn for our visit to southern Indiana because our mom and aunt grew up in this area and we have old photos of them at the old Clifty. While the old Clifty Inn is no longer around, the newer buildings are very nice and showcase items from the original buildings. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel and both were very good, very much comfort food. Our rooms overlooked the Ohio River. The rooms were large and very clean. We didn't get to wander the grounds due to some bad weather but the hotel and park were very convenient for the touring we had to do. The front desk gal at check-in was really great; I'm sorry I didn't get her name. Justin, however, needs to smile a little more :) My only negative is that the beds were pretty hard. We really enjoyed our couple of days at Clifty!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the river and the walk-out rooms would be amazing!

We reserved a block of rooms here for our wedding guests. We were given a group code which typically gives you a discount....but this code was simply just to be guaranteed a room, no discount which I thought was odd since we had 50+ rooms booked. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The ones facing the river are much newer and nicer. Guests who ended up getting a room in the older section said it was just darker, not updated, and kind of dingy. The pools were great! We had an issue with getting the front desk to hand out welcome bags to guests as they checked in....they agreed to it after my husband and I both spoke to them a few times after some guests reported not receiving one even though we gave the front desk a list of all the names. To top it off, the extra welcome bags (around $30 each) were never returned and and we were even told that they were all handed out....except we had dropped off 8 additions bags than we had guests....so someone snatched some up. All in all, the only real complaint our wedding guests had was that check in was not until 4pm which was a problem when our rehearsal was also at 4pm and the front desk made no effort to help....just told guests to get ready in someone else's room who had checked in the previous day.

My sisters and I stayed at the Clifty Inn in Madison, IN for two nights. The pictures on the Website did not do the Inn justice. The Inn is lovely with an outdoors theme. There were several stuffed animals encased in glass cases. This may not sound good, but the animals looked alive. They were beautiful. Our rooms were very large and comfortable. The best thing about the Inn however is on the outside. The view from the back patio (or if your room faces the direction) is stunning. The view is of the Ohio river with a bridge in the distance. The grounds surrounding the Inn were very well maintained with beautiful flowers everywhere. The staff was so nice and ready to accommodate us in every way. The restaurant on the premises have a very nice buffet for breakfast and dinner. There is a pool, game room and lounge with every game possible for children and adults. Plus a large screen TV in the lounge. Free coffee and tea in the mornings. I highly recommend this Inn. Our only small complaint is that the lighting in our room could have been brighter.

Room Tip: You may want a room with a view of the Ohio River.

Wife and I went here for our 24th Anniversary getaway. Staff were very nice, the cleanliness of the room, lobby, restaurant were all impressive.

We had a problem with the drain in the shower/tub, maint., took care of it very quickly.

Beds were clean, room (we were on parkside) was quiet, didn't hear the normal doors slamming, you get in a lot of places.

We'll be back, can't beat it for the price, cleanliness, and staff treatment.

The Riverview building is the place to stay. We stayed in a regular double room a few years ago and were impressed. This time we splurged on a suite and it was totally worth it for our family of four.

We had suite 401 - top floor of the Riverview building. The living room was huge. It had nice hardwood (or laminate wood) floors. French doors opened up onto a balcony. There was a desk, sofa (sofabed), coffee table, tv armoire, directors chair and big reading/sitting chair. The kitchenette area had a dining table with four chairs, dishes, flatware, sink, microwave and mini fridge. There were several windows and lots of natural light.

The kitchenette did not have napkins or paper towels, something we'll remember for next time. The kitchen cabinets were very old/dated and did not fit the rest of the updated suite.

The bedroom was carpeted. It had its own balcony. It had two nightstands, a reading chair, a desk and tv armoire. The bathroom was huge and updated. It had a jet tub, separate shower with multiple shower heads/sprayers, double sinks and a separate wc. The bathroom only had one shampoo+conditioner bottle and it was so small it was basically single use for one person. We had to get more at the front desk. There was no lotion in the bathroom, which most hotels provide.

Checkin was quick but the woman at the front desk was not friendly at all. When I went up upon entering and said we were there to check in, she almost gave me a weird dirty look. That was made better by a friendly call to our sweet from someone asking if our room was ok.

The suite and grounds have nice views of the Ohio River and Madison. It's just a shame that those smokestacks are right there in the way.

The indoor pool is large and the pool deck is nice and updated. The pool towels are terrible - too small and thin. We had to use two per person.

The restaurant is okay, nothing special. The buffet is not very appetizing to me so I order a la carte. My husband likes the buffet fine.

The lounge has games - we played Yahtzee in the lounge one evening. The lounge has tables and sofas and a tv. Decor is rustic/cabin.

We will definitely stay again, and get the Riverview suite again instead of a regular room. The extra space was so nice.

This review is for the inn, not the park, but I will say Clifty Falls State Park is a lovely park with great hiking trails. Also, the town of Madison offers many places to eat and I also enjoy the shops along Main Street.

This inn is spectacular -- Had a Riverview suite for weekend 4/5 and 4/6, Room is very spacious and has great view of the Ohio river and the town of Madison. Room very clean and comfortable. Dinner on Saturday night and breakfast on Monday morning were both very lavish and good with very competent wait staff. You will enjoy the large pool, and the park is amazing. Forsythia and Magnolias were just starting to bloom, saw multitude of deer and a couple of groundhogs. And Madison is an amazing community especially if like local shopping, antiques and artsy things. Top notch stays.

Room Tip: Use the south entrance from Madison (old city) for faster trip to facility. Take a walk on the rive...
