Stick to your bone meals that just plain make you feel full no matter what or when you eat. Truck stop atmosphere with above average food. Highly reccomend this diner if you are in the area.

Inexpensive local diner with fairly good food and wonderful homemade pie! The blackberry pie is to die for! Plentiful servings, no reason to leave hungry. Amish folk drop in to dine as well. Friendly service.

On a weekend get-away, we tried a few restaurants in the Middlebury area (including the 'big names') - and THIS is the place to eat if you want what seems like homecooking to me. Portions are all made to order - all large and you won't be hungry. Even though this was not an Amish run restaurant, the food had more of that 'homecooked' flavor that we expected on our visit. Cod was all you can eat in the evening and wonderful (about $9.59 a person if I remember). We knew we had hit the mark when we walked in and the place had a few Amish families stopping there for dinner. Although some would say 'greasy spoon' - this is a good meal and a great price.

If you like comfort food, you've got to try the Hilltop. "It's where the locals go." It's cheaper than the nearby Essen Haus, and I've never had a bad meal there. Breakfast can't be beat: if you can finish the Haystack, you may not need to eat anything else for the rest of the day. Good old fashioned (artery clogging) food. Staff are always friendly.
