A tip off from a work colleague alerted my husband and I to this little gem in the Gibbston. We were attending a wedding in Arrowtown and were after a relaxing but high quality place to stay for the weekend and this was just perfect. Our room was exactly how I like it - private, tasteful & luxurious, warm and spotlessly clean. The beauty of the Gibbston Valley is captured here, surrounded by the mountains and a gorgeous vineyard (that produces a fabulous drop) this really is paradise. There are also a number of wineries to visit in close proximity and our exceptional hosts Brian and Maureen helped us out with the best things to do in our limited time. An amazing couple who possess an endless amount of knowledge about wine and the surrounding district, natures rugged beauty at its best, incredible food and wine in a comfortable and welcoming setting. This is one of my most memorable getaways, I can't say enough for this Lodge, we
would highly recommend it to everyone and hope to return one day soon. Thank you Mt Rosa.

We had a 4 day stay with Brian and Maureen, the views of the colours of the vines in the early morning sunshine were superb. The location is exceptional looking west up the Gibbston Valley. Directions to the house were fine but you need to watch out for the small signs as you drive up through the vineyard as they are at ground level and we missed them first time. We had a complimentary room upgrade which was unexpected and much appreciated. The accommodation was excellent with underfloor heating and gas log fires making the room very snug and comfortable in the cold weather, as we had heavy frost every morning. We enjoyed a good meal and a chat around the log fire each evening with Brian and Maureen and enjoyed hearing about wine making from Brian. Highly recommended.

With a visit to Christchurch on business from the North Island, on Friday 4th May 2012 - my husband had booked a flight to Queenstown and a night at Mount Rosa Lodge for the Saturday. It ws a a complete surprise and a most welcome one as having visited this idyllic venue in the past I had hankered to return. It was every bit as luxurious and welcoming as our first encounter, The blazing log fire - the beautiful meal prepared by Cordon Bleu Host Mureen enhanced by the local wines just confirmed to me that this is my favourite 'breakaway' venue of all time. I would recommend it to any traveller - you will not be disappointed, The autumnal colours over the vinyards were breathtaking - waking up to such scenery is awe inspiring and fond memories of your stay will remain with you for ever.

Maureen and Brian are the best hosts you could ever ask for with the most amazing accommodation. This was the highlight of our 2 week south island tour.

We had the most wonderful time, their eagerness to offer ideas and suggestions for our day trips was second to none.

Highlights were the dinners sharing wine and stories as you would with the best of friends. I will never forget the wonderful night sky with the stars sitting in front of the outdoor fire until well after midnight.

If privacy is more your thing then the design of the property is brilliant.

We stayed during Jan 2012, we will be back. Brian and Maureen, thank you so much for a great experience. Ed and Carol, Waverton, Australia.

Unfortunately we were unable to extend your stay as you wanted but hope you had a wonderful time in this region after you left us.
Look forward to your return. The Valley is looking stunning right now with the vineyards changing colours by the day.

We stayed here the last night of our 3 week tour of NZ. It was superb. The rooms are exquisite and the hosts were most congenial. We opted to dine there and they joined us for a wonderful dinner which lasted about 4 hours due to our enjoyable conversation. We especially liked sampling some of their wine - don't miss a taste of "The Imbiber" with Brian's picture on the label and have them tell you the story of how it got there. We couldn't have hoped for a better ending to our trip.

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms and they are all magnificent. We stayed in the one with the fireplace which...

Thank you for the review of your stay with us here at Mt Rosa Lodge. We had to make sure your last night in New Zealand was one to remember and would like to welcome you back another time.
As you know the' Imbiber' will not be produced this year due to the damage by the November snow storm. It makes all the more special to share the other vintages with your party.
Welcome back maybe at harvest time to see what this spectacular valley looks like right now with the vines turning the yellows and oranges.

Traveling to New Zealand was great and staying At Mt. Rosa Lodge was the highlight of our trip and the best experience of all the places we stayed during our 3 weeks of travel in New Zealand. We spent two wonderful days at Mt Rosa Lodge, served a wonderful breakfast both days and treated to an exquisite supper. Maureen's culinary skills added greatly to our enjoyment. Brian's knowledge of area wine, and wine in general, added much to our stay. Our accommodations were beautiful, pleasurable, comfortable and relaxing; everything you want and hope for, but really surprised when you find it in one place. Brain and Maureen's conversation and attention to our needs topped off our wonderful experience in the Gibbston Valley setting. We would have to include a stay at Mt. Rosa lodge if we make a return trip to New Zealand. We will recommend Mt. Rosa Lodge to our friends who may travel to New Zealand. Thank you for enhancing our experience of Gibbston valley.
