We needed accomodation over the weekend to watch a concert in the Gibbston Valley. I liked the look of the website and booked, not really thinking any further ahead, just grateful to find a bed and breakfast so close at such short notice.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome as Brian came out to greet us and relaxed almost immediately into our luxurious room with its glorious view over the Gibbston Valley. We were invited into the main lodge to share a wine with Brian and Maureen and watch the sun descend over the valley and their vineyard, breathtaking! Our breakfasts were deliscious, as was the platter Maureen whipped up on our return from the concert on Saturday evening, served in our room.
I have no hesitation in recommending Mt Rosa as a place to stay, rest, dine, converse, drink and completely unwind. It is close to so many other facilities yet tranquil.Thankyou Maureen and Brian

As this was our first night in New Zealand we were unsure as to why our excellent agents Experience NZ had booked us so far out of Queenstown. We need not have worried as this was a perfect choice! Brian and Maureen are fantastic hosts and the quality of accommodation is faultless. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with open arms and our 3 night stay could have been 3 weeks. Breakfast is amazing and Dinner with our hosts along with other guests turned into a dinner party among friends. No complaints and nothing but praise lead us to state that there can be be no better accommodation in the Queenstown area which is only 20 minutes away. Submitted by Colin and Elaine all the way from Cumbria - we hope to return one day. Enjoy!

Thank you all the way back to Hong Kong and Cumbria, for your review of us here at Mt Rosa Lodge. You picked the best February to visit us and it still has'nt rained.
Yes we are on the outskirts of Queenstown but as you found out close enough to access any of the activities in this region. Once you have sampled what the region has to offer you can return to the peace of the vineyards.
Thoroughly enjoyed your company and hope you enjoyed meeting the pioneer of this wine region over dinner .
Many thanks again for the review and love to see you both again when in need for a break.

We were fortunate enough to find Brian and Maureen and their exquisite Mt. Rosa Lodge in the heart of one of the best wine regions of Central Otago. We were traveling with another couple and these were our first two nights in NZ -- great way to acclimate to the time differential. Brian and Maureen went way beyond expectations to make us feel welcome. The facility is gorgeous, beautifully clean, and literally in the vineyard. If you are fortunate enough to stay there and smart enough to ask for dinner at the lodge, be sure to encourage Maureen to make a special NZ desert, Pavlova; it is just the perfect treat after either smoked salmon or rack of lamb.
Summary words: gracious entertaining, scenery out of a book. and a Bed and Breakfast that is all one could hope for. A must if you are going to the Queenstown area.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay here in Gibbston valley in December. Unknowingly we made the right choice of staying outside Queenstown itself. This place is ideally located away from the town itself, but within easy driving distance to Arrowtown (which is gorgeous) and Queenstown. There is tons to do in the area. And just down the road are several vinyards which do some lovely lunches as well. If you want to know about wines then Brian's your man. And if you do stay there, we highly recommend dinner cooked by Maureen.....quite delicious. And all you have to do after that is stumble back to your room, and not worry about drinking and driving! This was our last stop in NZ and we are glad that we treated ourselves to this luxury. Thank you Maureen and Brian.

We stayed with Maureen and Brian for 6 nights in their luxurious lodge. The views were spectacular and Brian's local knowledge of the Central Otago wines and wineries was irreplaceable in planning our winery visits.

Maureen's cooking was delicious and their hospitality always delightful.

The lodge is located close to the beauty of Queenstown and to the historical Arrowtown.
Our stay was most relaxing and educational. We were very sad to leave, feeling more like part of the family after our quite long stay. Treat yourself - you won't be sorry!!!

Room Tip: Ask Maureen and Brian to recommend a room to your taste.

Gorgeous accommodation, perfect views and Maureen & Brian were so friendly without being intrusive! Also helpful with their in depth knowledge of what might be of interest in the area. Choice of breakfast (personally prepared) extensive and top quality. Nothing too much trouble.

Plenty to do/see in the area, Queenstown not far away but little Arrowtown an absolute must visit - a variety of little shops and places to eat, a good pub and museum.
