We arrived late at night and could not appreciate any of the views. Nor could we enjoy the outside, because we went for Valentines Day and it was way too cold. However, the owners made it a very warm and welcoming experience the next morning over breakfast! I might suggest getting really good directions before you go however...It's really tucked back in :)

Our review is a few weeks late, but I wanted to take the time to write a review because our stay will always be a favorite memory for us. We stayed in the honeymoon suite on Halloween night and it was cold and stormy outside. It didn't matter, because our room was so warm, comforting, and cozy. The bed was the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in and our bed at home is pretty comfty. The huge tub was a plus and the bathroom was very spacious. Mike and Bonnie were very welcoming and of course Bonnie's breakfast was fit for a king and queen. It was just my husband and I at the time, but we can see us returning with our adult children one way or another. The lodge is very spacious, but can be private, too. We felt like we were really getting a treat staying at the Lighthouse Lodge AND we are only 40 minutes away!!! :)

Mike & Bonnie have a wonderful B&B! The view is spectacular and the hospitality is exceptional. Both of them were very gracious and helpful. They served a delicious homemade buffet style breakfast. We enjoyed visiting with a bridal party for a wedding that was being held on their lawn with a reception on the large deck.

We took their optional pontoon ride around Lake Shafer which was delightful on a warm fall day. There are also 3 cottages available for rental that we looked at for a return trip. One is fully handicap accessible. All of them like the B&B, are tastefully decorated.

We highly recommend their B&B which is conveniently located close to Chicago. Indiana Beach Amusement Resort is on the same lake for summer entertainment. However, the Lighthouse B&B is open all 4 seasons with many things to do in the area including great restaurants.

Room Tip: Suite #7 on the 3rd floor is spacious, includes a balcony with a beautiful lake view.

Wife and I had a special road trip weekend and we were looking for an out of the way place that was romantic and classy. Lighthouse Lodge was it. Going off recommendations from other Trip Advisor reviews I booked our short stay. Mike and Bonnie were great hosts. We arrived late at night, but they had made sure we could get into the rec area and our room. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and it was as advertised. Very cozy. Comfortable bed, and this is a big deal for us because we hate hotel beds, but this was very comfortable. Since it was already dark we couldn't see the elegant view from our room until the morning. Gorgeous view of the lake and the lighthouse.

I am partial to my own cooking, but Bonnie's breakfast was wonderful. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and her own homemade syrups and flavored butters as well. Just delicious.

We were there less than 12 hours, but have already talked about having our family reunion there next fall.

If you want an out of the way place that offers beautiful scenery, FAMILY environment and yet all the amenities of home...Mike and Bonnie have the place for you.

We recently spent a 4 day weekend, which was our second time staying at the Lighthouse Lodge B&B. Mike and Bonnie are excellent hosts. Breakfasts are always excellent, with a unique variety of offerings. We've stayed in the Honeymoon Suite, and the Hawaiian Suite. Both offered great views, and were comfortable rooms.

We live an hour away from Mike and Bonnies B&B, but it felt like a world away.. My wife of ten years and I spent the weekend in the Honeymoon Suite and had an amazing time. Beautiful views, comfortable rooms, great property and surrounding area.. The most comfortable place we've ever stayed next to our home.. A very pleasant experience, first on our list of recommendations..

Wonderful hosts, Bonnie is a fantastic cook. We were able to stay in the cottage by the lake with our standard poodle. Everything was new and spotless, we had a very pleasant stay. The Lodge is a bit off the beaten path but worth the ride.
