Fairfield Inn Muncie

Muncie is fairly grim when it comes to hotel choices. There are only a handful of hotels, and they are all lower to mid range chains out on the highway. It is hard to understand why no one has developed a hotel downtown or near Ball State University... But, that's what it is.

I come here fairly often for business, and I have stayed at pretty much all of the chain hotels here. The Fairfield Inn is my new least favorite. Not only is there no elevator, but – although the rooms are clean – they seem not to be fully stocked. Last night, for example, I found I had two tubes of conditioner, but no shampoo. And two hand towels, but no bath towels.

I recommend that anyone who stays here ask for a ground floor room – and check the supplies before settling in.

I would like to apologize for the improperly stocked room you had during your recent stay. We do have a handful of new employees, however that is no excuse. I will make sure that this is brought to the attention of the housekeeping staff and that they focus on ensuring that the correct items are in the room upon it's completion.

We were staying at this hotel one night only, and we were in the area to check out Ball State University. We got in late at night, so didn't have time to check out the pool. However, all of the services we used were good. The staff were all friendly, and the night front desk clerk was very helpful in explaining how to get to the University. The room was clean, the beds comfy, and the bathroom was a bit tight, but worked just fine for my husband, myself and our two sons. Breakfast was yummy, and there was something there for everyone. The woman running the breakfast area was very pleasant and helpful. I would recommend this hotel as a good choice if you go to see the university.

Room Tip: We prefer to stay on the second floor or higher. This only had two floors, so we took the second flo...

This hotel does not honor it's reservations. We booked a room 5 weeks before our trip, received a confirmation email and a reminder a week prior to our arrival. When we arrived at about 9pm, we were told that the hotel was full and that our room had been sold to someone the previous night for a 2-day stay. We did not receive a phone call or an email to notify us of this.

To be fair, the Fairfield Inn booked us a room at another (inferior) hotel nearby, but if Marriot management is going adopt this “first come – first served” policy, why does it bother to take reservations? If nothing else, we should have been notified that our reservation was being cancelled so we would have time to pick an alternate hotel. Do not count on a reservation at this hotel!

I would probably give this hotel a "0" if that was an option. Stayed for 2 nights. No elevator, so we had to carry all of our luggage up stairs to the second floor. Room was very small with no microwave or refrigerator. Could not sleep, because the heater made a loud knocking sound every 10 seconds. In the morning, there was no hot water to take a shower. When I called the front desk to see what was going on, they said that the hotel was full, so all the hot water must have been used up. Shouldn't a hotel be prepared for a full house... Especially one that calls themselves a Marriott? Be aware that they also charge your credit card an extra $50 for incidentals, which supposedly will get refunded in 10 days. It is supposed to be explained when you check in, but of course, it was not. Front desk was nice, the guy did offer to help us carry our luggage up. However, I would not stay here again, and am now a bit leary of Marriott hotels.

Room Tip: If you get a regular King room - you won't have a microwave or refrigerator. If you get 2 Queen...

The Fairfield Inn Muncie is a great place to stay. The front desk staff were very friendly. The room was very clean and spacious. It could be updated though. I was able to get a good night's rest. It is close to everything. I recommend it!

I spent a night at this hotel on a business trip. Room was big, very clean, same the bathroom. Friendly staff, quiet area, basic continental breakfast. Great for an overnight stay.
