I was visiting Nashville last week from NYC/New Jersey helping my partner, her mother and three children move into a new place in town when the coldest weather in decades paralyzed Indiana. Thankfully we found Nancy and the Olde Magnolia Inn. I never expected to have so much fun during dangerous weather and be treated so kindly by a wonderful innkeeper. Old Magnolia is a great old house lovingly looked after by its owner, Nancy Baker-Crocker. Thankfully, because of the time of year and ridiculously cold weather, the six of us were able to take over the entire house (though it could easily fit more people). With the temperature cratering to 50 degrees below zero, we spent three surprisingly fun days safely ensconced in Nancy's comfortable world. The house is an easily manageable two floors. Upstairs are three bedrooms, two of which have bathrooms en suite. Also upstairs is a large third bathroom and a roomy sitting area. Each bedroom has a state of the art television--which came in handy when entertaining three children who could not go outside thanks to the weather. The house is also equipped with fast WiFi. Although not a business trip, I was able to work easily and stay in touch w/ my demanding NYC and London-based colleagues and clients. They had no idea I was stuck in the middle of Indiana. The bedrooms and bathrooms were meticulously kept with clean sheets, towels and beds more comfortable than home. Downstairs is where Nancy keeps the items she sells through her business, 4th Sister Vintage, which add to the charm of the house. In terms of location, Olde Magnolia is perfectly situated. It's in the heart of Nashville, but not on a busy street. Nancy is a warm person and a skillful innkeeper. Her laid back demeanor and care for her guests add to the ambience of her house and make time spent there special. Finally, I want to point out that Nancy recently took over Olde Magnolia House. All of the negative reviews here precede her stewardship and are attributable to the previous owner. Since her arrival, you'll see that all reviews have been extremely positive. I wish there was some way TripAdvisor could delete the old reviews.
