Olde Magnolia House Inn
Ranked #5 of 24 Nashville B&B and Inns
Reviewed 11 January 2014

I was visiting Nashville last week from NYC/New Jersey helping my partner, her mother and three children move into a new place in town when the coldest weather in decades paralyzed Indiana. Thankfully we found Nancy and the Olde Magnolia Inn. I never expected to have so much fun during dangerous weather and be treated so kindly by a wonderful innkeeper. Old Magnolia is a great old house lovingly looked after by its owner, Nancy Baker-Crocker. Thankfully, because of the time of year and ridiculously cold weather, the six of us were able to take over the entire house (though it could easily fit more people). With the temperature cratering to 50 degrees below zero, we spent three surprisingly fun days safely ensconced in Nancy's comfortable world. The house is an easily manageable two floors. Upstairs are three bedrooms, two of which have bathrooms en suite. Also upstairs is a large third bathroom and a roomy sitting area. Each bedroom has a state of the art television--which came in handy when entertaining three children who could not go outside thanks to the weather. The house is also equipped with fast WiFi. Although not a business trip, I was able to work easily and stay in touch w/ my demanding NYC and London-based colleagues and clients. They had no idea I was stuck in the middle of Indiana. The bedrooms and bathrooms were meticulously kept with clean sheets, towels and beds more comfortable than home. Downstairs is where Nancy keeps the items she sells through her business, 4th Sister Vintage, which add to the charm of the house. In terms of location, Olde Magnolia is perfectly situated. It's in the heart of Nashville, but not on a busy street. Nancy is a warm person and a skillful innkeeper. Her laid back demeanor and care for her guests add to the ambience of her house and make time spent there special. Finally, I want to point out that Nancy recently took over Olde Magnolia House. All of the negative reviews here precede her stewardship and are attributable to the previous owner. Since her arrival, you'll see that all reviews have been extremely positive. I wish there was some way TripAdvisor could delete the old reviews.

Growing up in Greenwood, Indiana, heading to Brown County was an annual event. Today I live in the other Nashville (TN) and I wanted to stay at a great location with authentic Brown County Charm. Olde Magnolia House offered both plus the added warmth of Nancy the owner. I stayed in the Van Goah Room and awoke feeling like Goldie Locks, happy and content after a wonderful nights rest! The downstairs shop, 4th Sister Vintage had fabulous finds and keepsakes. I enjoyed my stay and felt at welcome in this historical home built in 1912. The location was within walking distance to all of the stores near and off of Main Street. Nothing better than a visit to Brown County followed by a stay in a home with history! I will stay here again for future visits to the best kept secret in Indiana. Jill Staples Lester

An excellent place to stay for a girls weekend. Great location, a block from main street, within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Not to mention the wonderful shop that is at the Olde Magnolia House Inn, 4th Sister Vintage! The innkeeper is a very sweet and accomidating lady. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and had everything we needed. A fun and relaxing time!

Great location, only one block from the Main Street! The new owner is very helpful and really wants to please her guests! The pod coffee maker came with hot chocolate, tea, and different flavored coffee. We also had chocolate and pretzels each day. Our room had three prairie style windows which allowed in an abundance of light. We enjoyed streaming Netflix each night to watch a movie on the large flat screen TV. The room and bathroom were very clean, the beds comfortable with an abundance of pillows to choose from. We had a fireplace in our room that kept us toasty and added to the ambience. Great restaurants and shopping are easily within walking distance. Looking forward to our next visit!

A visit to the Olde Magnolia House Inn in mid-October is a chance to relax amid the beautiful hills of Brown County, the changing scenery of fall leaves, and the lively atmosphere of a small town that draws visitors from a wide range of urban and rural places. The Olde Magnolia House, now under the creative management of Nancy Crocker, is perfectly located close to the center of town, within walking distance to all stores and restaurants, but far enough away to take a break from the action and plan the next outing. The century house offers unique vintage shopping on the first floor, with lodging upstairs. The cost is reasonable, with clean and quiet rooms that can accomodate singles, groups, or get-a-way weekends. Brunch at the Daily Grind a couple of blocks away means great coffee and biscuits and gravy Southern style. The Inn Keeper at Magnolia keeps the Four Sisters Furniture Company humming with repurposed, unique furniture finds, nostalgic homewares for decorating and whimsical lawn pieces. The shopping is fun, the people are friendly, and it's all in the heart of Indiana Hoosier country.

Loved the Olde Magnolia House Inn!! It was so charming and unique. The claw bathtub in the Monet room was a one of a kind experience. The owner Nancy was also very sweet, and a wonderful hostess. Another bonus was the fact that you could walk to all the shopping downtown. We will definitely be back. Christmas time sounds like a good idea?

Within 1 block of the main strip, Olde Magnolia is a great place to stay! Rooms have an old style feel to them, but updated with new amenities. Nancy is awesome, she made sure we had everything we needed!! We will definitely be staying here again anytime we go down to Brown County. Rooms are also priced as low or lower than any other place in downtown Nashville.
