Another architectural wonder by designed by Richard Meier, love the modern design that contrasts with the historic sites.

When you try to get to New Harmony, IN you will wonder what is going on. You go through flat corn fields and nothing much to see. All of a sudden you will see a convenience store. From that point expect to see contemporary art museums. Antique stores. 150 year old houses beautifully maintained. A Roofless church. A foliage maze. Fabulous b and bs plus some 4 star restaurants. The Atheneum grounds include log cabins and period houses and there are guided tours. Lots to see in this beautiful little town. And the Yellow Tavern on Main street has bread pudding (among other things) which will make you slap your daddy. Go there.

For the size of this town there is a beautiful visitors center. The best part are the walking tours they offer. These tours take 2 hours and give a remarkable story of the town from its beginning to today. Dont miss the walking tour.

Aside from the short video (which did not include enough information) and the model of the town during the first settlement of the town, this is nothing but a big, white building with a heck of a lot of staircases and a minimal gift shop.

The ladies inside were very helpful in letting us know what items to be sure to visit and where we could find them. Map they provided us was super! Cool looking building to be sure. Should have looked around a little more, but were only in town for a short stop on the way home.
