I can't say enough bad things bout the Grissom inn located on base. While te rooms are spacious and are newly remodeled, the service is horrible. After 10pm there is no one available at the front desk. Which makes it difficult of your a late check in to get to yor reserved room and and set up a late checkout. The rooms are not cleaned daily and. Or where the beds made. I have traveled quite alot though my years and never stayed in a hotel where at lead the bed was made everyday. When I asked for a late checkout te next morning at 1045 am I was told that I couldn't have it because check out was at 11 am. I explained to the clerk that I was unable to reach any one at the front desk the previous night(no one is there after 10pm) to whig se replied I'm trying to get something for nothing. Long story short I had to pay and extra nights fee for a room I didn't sleep in to serve my reserve military commitment. I will never stay in this hotel again i will rather sleep in my car to serve my reserve obligation than deal with being called cheap and deceptive. Horrible Place you have been warned

My husband & I were in need of an extended stay hotel & were wary of staying here at the Grissom Inn due to no reviews on Trip Advisor, but after calling & speaking with the new owner & ensuring that it was a totally smoke free hotel & the rate was $280 for the week, we decided to take a chance. We ended up staying two weeks! The hotel is located right on what used to be Grissom Air Force base, it is now a Reserve base, scaled back quite a bit from its heyday. We are both ex-Air Force & since Grissom Inn once was Officers Quarters, we were almost giddy at getting to stay in a facility that was off limits for us as enlisted personnel way back in the day in our youth. We had two adjoining rooms with a bathroom in between. One room was a living room with microwave, refrigerator, pull-out couch, sitting chair, coffee table & TV, the other room was the bedroom, with a queen size bed & TV. The TV's are older, with composite jacks on the front, which were nice for hooking up our Wii in the living room & our laptop in the bedroom. Individual air conditioning units in each room & a full closet in each room as well. Nice big windows in each room, the weather was cool & it was great being able to open the windows & have all the fresh air. We were on the second floor so we left the windows open at night too, was great for sleeping! The shower is a stand-up only, being an old military facility, but we did not mind as it was clean & the water plenty hot. Very little counter space in the bathroom, but a nice big medicine cabinet & a hair dryer. Since we were staying long-term, there was no towel service or room cleaning/restocking daily. We just washed the hotel provided towels with our own laundry, & brought our own soap & shampoo. We like our privacy so we didn't want someone else cleaning the room anyway. Laundry facility was clean, reasonably priced & there are units upstairs & downstairs, very convenient. There is a kitchen on the second floor with a full size sink & refrigerator, & plenty of tables. You are welcome to use the sink & refrigerator, cannot use the stove however do to insurance concerns. Just clean up after yourself, as we should all do anyway! My hubby & I bought stuff for sandwiches while we were out & about (Peru & Kokomo both within 20 minutes drive) & it was nice to be able to come back to the hotel & use the kitchen to wash the lettuce & assemble the sandwiches. We ate cereal in our room for breakfast & for coffee, we chose to walk five minutes to the gas station behind the hotel entrance where we had our choice of all kinds of flavors & got us out of the room for exercise. You can walk for minutes or hours around the hotel, lots of sidewalks & long streets with little traffic. At any time of day or night too, I might add. We got a nice long walk in nearly every day, exploring what used to be Grissom Air Force base & base housing which is now occupied by civilian business & families. We walked up to the Grissom Air Museum several times to look at the planes from the outside. The owners of the hotel are friendly & conscientious, and live on-site which is great. We enjoyed many chats with Judy & she even shared her delicious cooking with us! There are rooms that have full kitchens (the owners are in one of them), just none available during our stay. If you are staying for only one or two nights, the rate is higher, but still affordable & worth it for the location, atmosphere & service you receive. We had a wonderful stay here, suited us perfectly. If you are looking for smoke free, clean, quiet, affordable lodging, we would highly recommend this hotel. If you are ex-military, you will enjoy it even more!
