Camped here in a tent, with my wife and 2 children. We all had a blast, lots of activities to do, Yogi was out all the time. This was our first time and we were rather worried about going because of the bad reviews. We almost canceled our reservations but we are glad that we did not, and we will be back again this summer for sure. They have 4 pools and a lake mini golf and a large playground and arcade room. The surrounding area isn't that great but the campground itself is nice, the camp sites and bathrooms where very clean. Some of the pictures listed on this page are of the trailer park that you pass on the way to the park, but the campground is gated so they cant get in.

I have been to 3 or 4 yogis in WI, IN, IL and this one is fine. Yes, the area around the campground is a little run down but the Yogi Campground is safe and clean. We stayed in the deluxe cabin, which has a toliet but no shower. It fits one family only! During the day, we drove 20 min east to Michigan City and visited the Washington Park Zoo and Outlet Mall. Also, 10 min away is the Indiana Dunes State park which was a blast. My kids love running up the Dunes. We went for Memorial Day and the whole weekend they had a carnival there which my kids enjoyed. They also have the typical mini golf, pool, ice cream parlor, playground and wagon rides most Yogi's have. Is it my favorite Yogi Campground, well no, but it was close to home and a nice weekend away.

Bad area of town, crowded, dangerous, dirty, depressing, noisy music/screaming drunks, strong sewage odor, unhealthy. 800 permanent trailers, 90% full time residents. Very odd set up, barbed wire on fencing. LOUD TRAINS. After years of RV ing this tops the list of the worst. What were we thinking?! Don't believe the RV review books that give more than 1 star rating.

We have stayed at a few Jellystone camps throughout the Midwest and this one is not a good representation of the brand. Let's just say there are all different kinds of sensibilities about what makes for a relaxing and fun weekend. The staff is really nice but sometimes apologetic (yet reservedly) about the location and conditions of the campground, which would have you thinking you were on the set of the film 8 Mile. My family of 2 parents and 3 kids were placed on one of the few available spaces during a hot midsummer night in July, which was located within feet of a sewage intake vent that services a waste water treatment facility on the south side of the campground. It was beyond disgusting. We weren't able to get out of our camper for fear of gagging. It was inhumane. After an appeal to the campground and corporate, we got our money back. But beware, if they are retaining these southerly sites and if you are looking for a fun and Midwestern practical-safe camping experience you will want to avoid Jellystone Portage and head to one of the nearby Indiana State Parks.

We, like many of the other reviewers, are avid RV'rs. We have stayed at several Jellystone parks in the past. This one is different. I am shocked to this day that Jellystone hasn't pulled their name from the park. It is in a scary neighborhood. Its dirty. There are 800 permanent sites, about 50 of those are being taken care of. Most are full of junk /trash. The regulars party all night, and that's allowed. We were scared to stay there. We left after one night.
