Reviewed 17 June 2014

The Historic Depot will have new tenants who will develop many new attractions and services by Dec.2014. Seven partners, several who graduated from Centerville High School six miles west of Richmond. Mike Widau one the of the partners states that the businesses will have their own identity and occupy much of the depot area. One announced business will be the Depot House of Brews that will feature 50 Craft Brews on tap and food items produced in Indiana as stated by chef Craig Gareiss who served as chef at the Wicked Spoon in Las Vegas and the Cerulean Restaurant in Indianapolis. Craig and partner Jared Ward, both Centerville High School graduates, state that the pub and wine bar will focus local products. Ward also stated that in addition there will be a banquet hall to seat 499 guests and a gift and apparel store called PAX that will have quirky and unique items for all tastes. All the above partners also commented that their project will also feature a three-seasoned outdoor brick patio for patrons use and enjoyment. They commented that this building will open many new opportunities for visitors and guests, and their partners, as Roger Richert expands business opportunities.

Who knew there was such a cool area in a small town? We have attended the Oktoberfest in the Depot Area for the last two years as our daughter attends a local college. The first year, we just stumbled across it and were delighted with the street festival. The second year, we made it a destination. Typical street fair, but the area is really neat - shops, restaurants, and bars. It is pretty trendy little area in a small town.

The Richmond, In depot district organized under the direction of Roger Richert in Fort Wayne Avenue business district which housed the Railroad District designed by the famous architect Daniel Burnham, best know for designing the World Fair site in Chicago. Today's venues are housed by furniture stores, variety shops, antique shops, designer stores, and several unique taverns and family oriented eating establishments. Many of the business establishments are vintage family owned business still offering excellent service to their valued customers.

This is a great place to eat, drink, and have fun. Lots of fun things to look at (even the furniture store is fun) and lots of great activities. Watch for Christmas in the Depot, Ice carving in the Depot, etc. A great place to stroll around, eat and window shop.
