I was lucky to book this at the last minute for an additional 10%off the rate--it was called a late night special. The hotel is very clean, with a spacious lobby. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They have coffe and tea in the lobby for guests convenience. I was there on business, and took my husband with me. He was able to enjoy the breakfast buffet--he said is was great. As I had left the hotel prior to breakfast, my husband did not have transportation to the restaurant. The restaurant was a few blocks away--which we did not realize upon checking in. The staff was very nice and offered to have one of the staff drive him to the restaurant.
The room was very nice and large enough to really spread out and be comfortable. The hallways are quite wide. The hotel seems more like a private inn. The decor has a cozy feel to it. It is definitely not a 'cookie cutter' type of establishment. The management and atmosphere certainly has a personal touch.
We are looking forward to going back again soon. Very well priced as well!

Room Tip: The Amish country does not have Sunday business/shopping as such. However, Monday is back to a full...

My team and I have had a wonderful experience staying at the Blue Gate Garden Inn. The owner and his staff are very friendly and courteous. The accommodations are clean and rooms are spacious. A very comfortable bed and the morning breakfast buffet will have you started on the right foot each day. The new pool construction has begun, something to look forward to on the return trip this summer.

First i was amazed when I first walked in, very big and beautiful and clean, the check in was was very pleasant, the lady behind the desk was Tina V., who was very professional. My stay was a nice relaxing time. My room was a beautiful single room, with a couch and a fridge, which was nice. I will defiantly stay there again, if staff is nice it makes the stay so much better.I didn't want to leave
it was so relaxing.

Very clean quiet and comfortable large hotel. Met one of the owners and learned that the water park that was part of the previous owner business is closed permanently but the new owners have pland to add an indoor pool. Overall it was very clean and quiet. Hot brekfast was OK and included waffles fruit sausage and biscuits.

Room Tip: No reason to think it would be a problem but the hotel was nearly empty when we were there and did n...

We had an excellent experience at Blue Gate Garden Inn. The hotel lobby was decorated for Christmas and as we found out all the hotel was decorated throughout. Check in was a snap since we had reservations. The staff were all above expectation in every way possible. We plan to go back in the future when there is more going on in the community. We were there first part of November. Some businesses were still open and some places to eat. You won't regret staying at this hotel. The breakfast bar is wonderful from the waffle bar to the biscuits, gravy, eggs, sausage, and please try the Amish peanut butter. It is peanut butter mixed with marshmallow creme. Delicious. Our room had a beautiful quilt and pillow shams on it. A small sitting area and a small kitchenette.

Room Tip: Our room was large and had frig, microwave, TV. ironing board & iron. Large bathroom, sitting ar...

Stayed in the Shipshewana Suite during mid-week with ym wife and her friend. The room was clean and is highly recommended for guests looking for 2 bedrooms and a nice-sized seating area and a walk-in kitchen with full refrigerator. All this and more! The suite has 2 bathrooms, a TV in each bedroom, a pull-out sofa, and a small dining table. The beds are comfortable and one gets a very "home-like" feel to the suite. Outstanding!

I write balanced reviews, trying to be as objective as possible. In this case, the oddest part of the suite is that there is only one light in the entire seating/living area. This was a lamp on an end table. There was a ceiling fan, but no lights associated with it and about half the room is just empty space. The empty space doesn't detract from staying in the room but the one light, that being a lamp on a table was very curious, especially for such a large suite that can sleep 6 people easily. The suite screams for more furniture, especially since the 2 rocker chairs and sofa really isn't enough seating if 6 people were to stay.

Having mentioned the lighting and furniture issues, that should not sway from making a decision to stay in the Shipshewana suite at this property. They are minor points which does not negatively reflect on your comfort and satisfaction.

For the property itself and its operations:
- The desk clerk was so nice and friendly. Every estalishment should have that friendly smile and pleasant personalty at the front desk.
- The lobby and entire property seemed clean and very beautiful...very well decorated
- The morning buffet was in a huge room and was served in a very well-organized and inviting manner. Our only disappointment was that it would have been "perfect" had there been a more local feeling to the offerings...such as fresh bakery or something more reflective of the local Amish surroundings
- We spent some time in the extremely comfortable seating area outside our suite but holey moley was it hot. The temperature on the thermostat read 83 degrees. The "heat lights" in the area should be removed for more softer lighting.

In conclusion...thank you very much to the entire staff and ownership of the Blue Gate Garden Inn. No property is perfect but there are few places that give a traveling guest a true feeling of such comfort and friendliness. We have bounced around staying at various properties in the Shipshewana area and now we recognize this is THE place to stay, bar none. We saw the work being done around the property and look forward to the improvements on the way. We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitly return, without hesitation!

Room Tip: The Shipshewana Suite is perfect for a family needing two rooms and it was very reasonably priced fo...

Thank you for your recent post and the great feedback you left. We appreciate your time and thoughtful review. The Shipshewana Suite is our largest suite we offer and a great space for a large family or a couple of friends like you stated. We are working on upgrading the lamps and lighting in all of our rooms as well as new furniture.
We appreciate the comments about our friendly staff and cleanliness of the property. We also try to switch our breakfast menu up in the mornings and offer different selections each day. The majority of our breakfast is homemade, but we are always looking for ways to improve and your input will help us achieve this goal.
Thank you again for your feedback and we look forward to serving you in the near future.

If you are ever in the area, and need a clean, quiet and peaceful place to lay your head, this is the place! We had a small family reunion here, reserving 2 large suites, and felt the space in each room was well appointed and exceeded our expectations. Once the pool is reopened this place will be a real gem.

Don't be confused thinking this hotel is connected to the restaurant, it's NOT! The restaurant is about a mile up the road.

We would definitely stay here again!

Thank you for telling others about your great stay with us. We appreciate the feedback and always love to hear about the cleanliness of our hotel. We also love to hear you were able to enjoy our place with your family members and that we exceeded your expectations. The pool is coming along and we are looking forward to the projected date of March 2014 when we will be able to provide this amenity to our guests.
Unfortunately, the Blue Gate Restaurant is not connected to our hotel. We are always thinking of ways to make our guest stay more comfortable and convenient, our hopes in the near future is to provide that here as well.
Thank you again for staying with us and we look forward to your next visit.
