Our group of 6 women stayed Labor Day weekend while attending Blueberry Fest in Plymouth, IN. The check-in was completed quickly, and we proceded to our room, a suite. Upon walking into the room, we were greatly satisfied with the looks of it, two queen beds and a sofa bed, a kitchen, and two bathrooms. The rug had just been cleaned (as we were told when we checked in). Everything looked perfectly ready for our stay. One problem we did encounter was that the staff didn't know what a queen bed was. We booked the room for six people, because it stated it has a queen pull-out sofa bed. The pull out sofa bed was actually a little larger than a twin bed (the staff insisted it was a queen when we called the desk) with a very lumpy mattress. We asked for a roll away bed which it stated they had in their hotel directory book, but they said they have none. So, we decided to rough it out with some people sleeping on the floor.
We decided to have the buffet breakfast one of the mornings we were there. The food was good with eggs, sausage, french toast, waffles, yogurt, muffins, bagels and much more.
Every time we ran into one of the staff, he/she was very friendly. They always greeted us with a "Hello, how are you?"
The pool was very clean, and in a good spot. It was in the middle of the courtyard, rather than most hotels, which have it facing the street.
All in all our hotel experience was great. We are planning to book a room at this hotel next year. I would suggest anyone who would like to book for six people to bring an air mattress, as we are planning to do the next time we stay here.

We had to be in town for a baseball tournament and found rooms here. We had a great time at this hotel. The furnishings are very nice and comfortable and the bed linens were very nice. The ice maker in the fridge was wonderful to have since we were there on the hottest days of summer 2006. The staff was very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. They allowed the whole group to get together in the evenings in the game room and let it stay open later than usual for us. It wasn't annoying to other guests since it is housed in a separate building from the rooms. It is nice also that the rooms are in separate smaller buildings so late night arrivals aren't heard walking down the hallways since there are none. The staff was so nice to us we cannot thank them enough. It was a great place to stay for an extended stay(6 days).

This Residence Inn follows the format of this Mariott brand pretty faithfully. It's in a weird location in South Bend. Certainly near the University (no more than a five minute drive) but is situated on an out of the way street in a funkier part of town. Somewhat isolated, although downtown South Bend is no more than a five or ten minute drive in the opposite direction from Notre Dame. Still, better than the chain hotels situated north and east of campus in the middle of suburban strip mall USA, where a lot of them are. When we arrived (the weekend when freshman students arrived on campus) we were immediately offered a big discount to stay at a chain motel up near I-90/80 because they said the Residence Inn was overbooked. Not the type of greeting one might expect. We declined.

Our first room smelled like rotten eggs. It was horrible. We immediately went back to front desk and were lucky that they were able -- gracefully and without complaint -- to switch us to another room.

Then a light bulb went out in the kitchen. When the maintenance man came (fairly promptly) he was friendly and fixed it, but also told us his life story. That was ok.

Breakfast was pretty standard for Residence Inns. Staff was uniformly friendly. Free Internet service.

All in all, i would recommend this for those with business at Notre Dame although Residence Inns in general are priced up from more typical chain hotels.

Nice place to stay. Was in South Bend for five days. Stayed at the Residence Inn, which was easy to find and in a nice quiet neighborhood. Everything was quite nice, clean, and spacious. Nice couch, fine bed, and a kitchen.

**They also have free high-speed internet access.** This was important for me, since I was trying to do a lot of work while I was there.

On the last night I was there, they left a bag of Halloween candy in my room. Nice friendly touch.

The only problem I could find was that the refrigerator in the room was a bit loud when its compressor was running. It didn't bother me, but for a light sleeper, that might be a problem. One slight issue: there is not true closet or dresser. They have a reasonable wire-frame deal with a place to hang clothes and shelves to store clothes, but it's not exactly as easy to get to as a closet (it's in the big bathroom behind the door).

I was quite happy with the service and the room.

We just returned from a stay at the Residence Inn in South Bend for my sister's graduation from the MBA program at Notre Dame. This Residence Inn is well appointed, clean, and houses a friendly staff. Upon arrival, we were greeted quickly and checked in without any problems. Our suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable! The only complaint I had was that there was a persistent rattling sound in our room from the pipes in the hotel in the middle of the night. It lasted from 12:30 to 1:30 AM. Kept us up for awhile and was extremely irritating. However, upon contacting the front desk, they were helpful and were willing to move us to another room. The noise stopped before we had to relocate. Beware of room 414! It appears this wasn't the first time someone complained. Anyhow, the Inn has a WONDERFUL complimentary breakfast... waffles, omelette bar, cereals... overall, it was great!
