What a wonderful place to stay - the house is new, spacious, well-equipped and a perfect place to relax. Surrounded by a veranda on 2 sides - you can sit and enjoy the view - watching the kangaroos at dawn and dusk is a must! It's nestled in the bush, but a few steps take you up a small hill to the top of the dunes, with chairs to relax in and enjoy the view of Emu Bay below. If you want to venture to the beach it's 99 steps down.
The house has all you need in it - comfy settees - armchairs - dining table - breakfast bar - well equipped kitchen - new BBQ - and very comfy beds with great black outs. Every detail has been thought about.
The hosts were so helpful too - living nearby - very happy to help if you want advice on what to do.
We spent 3 wonderful nights here - and it was a great base to explore from - being able to head over to Flinders Chase NP (About 1hr 30 minutes) - Seal Bay - and Stokes Bay (access beach through hole in the rocks) closer by.
Don't hesitate to book - just wish we could have stayed longer!
We couldn't believe what a wonderful, clean and cleverly designed house awaited us on our arrival. This is a truly magic place just far enough away from the rest of the "crowd" at Emu Bay. The wildlife share the garden too and it was great to sit on the deck watching them quietly do what wallabies and kangaroos do. We had an echidna and possum visit us too. Brian and Kris have obviously taken great care planning and equipping this house and were more than happy to be on hand to help if we asked for it. The information and directions that were sent to us before our arrival were very much appreciated.
The view from the top of dune is stunning, overlooking Emu Bay and the beach. What a great place to sit back, relax and enjoy the privacy of this fantastic location.
Super clean and very well equipped house.
Although designated as a "Beach House", location is behind a 50m high dune with no direct sea views. No central heating.
So very glad we booked to stay here. This beautiful little cottage is so well set out and maintained. Away from everyone at the rear of the dunes at Emu Bay - you can stroll up to the top of the dunes and relax watching the waves on the gorgeous beach below. Its so quiet and relaxing here - no-one around for miles. The cottage has a wood fire heater which was great for us in the middle of winter. Warmed the whole house. Powered by solar and using tank water. There is tv and free wifi here. Bed was comfortable and bedding was lovely. There are approx 15 steps up the outside of the cottage to get up to the entry on the deck and you have great views all around you from the decks and windows. Will be recommending the cottage to our friends.
The only unhappy part of our stay was when it was time to leave! We stayed for five wonderful nights and loved it. Tucked in behind a dune and out of the wind, a stunning beach view was only a one minute walk away. Sitting on the peak of the dune, watching the sun setting while a pod of dolphins played in the bay below, was magical. Kangaroos peeking through the windows, wedge-tailed eagles and sea eagles cruising above - how marvellous! Modern, clean and comfortable with everything you need, Brian and Kris have worked hard to thoughtfully design and equip the house. They have been attentive to every detail. Brian checked in to see that all was well and urged us to call him if we needed anything. Great people to deal with and they clearly wanted us to enjoy our stay. Highly recommended!
Beautiful setting and top quality cottage ... outstanding inland and ocean scenery with abundant KI wildlife ... very peaceful and relaxing ... Excellent hosts
We spent 2.5 weeks in Australia, stayed at 8 different locations. Kangaroo Island and especially Kris' and Brian's lovely home was our favorite. Should have spent a week. Too much to do and to see. Have been greeted by dolphins the first night, a paradise for animal lovers. We would go back in a heart beat, most likely will. The house is perfect, you could spend a week on the beach. Kris and Brian, thanks for sharing your home. We miss it already.
