Description: Don Quijote Restaurant, the heart of Spain in the heart of Valparaiso. We have been ahead of the "Tapas" trend for the last 26 years!! Serving Spanish cuisine since 1985 and featuring over two dozen different tapas, including, Octopus, Galician style meat pastries and the traditional "Tortilla Espanola", Spanish potato omelet. Our menu doesn"t stop there, but goes on to feature an array of tantalizing entrees, from fresh seafood, like Swordfish and Salmon to succulent Castilian style roast Lamb. The food is sure to please and fortify any traveler who might be roming the countryside. The National dish of Spain is the Paella, and we offer four different versions: Marinera, Vegetarian, Black and Valenciana. Delicious Homemade desserts round out our extensive menu. Our decor, complete with street lamps an a fountain, will transport you, to any out door cafe in Spain. "INDIANA'S ONLY SPANISH RESTAURANT"

“Delicious food and great service - but pricey for the average Joe”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

Pricey, if we didn't have gift certificates from our family we couldn't have afforded the $140 for the two of us on June 21, 2014 for our anniversary. The shrimp with wine and Spanish ham appetizers were good. Their Spanish menu on line gives two appetizer prices $5.95, $11.95 but the waiter had no idea of that pricing. We each had a glass of wine, dinner salads, 8 oz. juicy filets, and baked potatoes. Five waiters certainly met all of our needs. Elaina, a friendly owner visited our table at the beginning of our meal, informing us that she made the desserts and encouraging us to try them. After dinner, we shared a small caramel egg custard. She stopped by later and asked how our dinner was, and if we had tried a dessert. Told her we had shared a flan. She then as a complimentary had the waiter bring us her Tarta De Cusjada, a delicious milky dessert. This place is just a hole in the wall on Lincolnway in Valparaiso, but if you have the money, it's a great place to spend it! Enjoy!!!

“Might have been a bad day”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Our visit to Don Quijote for dinner was on a very hot Tuesday evening. The menu is very well developed and reasonable priced. There were many authentic Spanish Tapas and entrees. The service was excellent. However, the food was not up to standard. An order of Lomo De Cerdo Con Pimientos was overcooked and tough; an order of Paella Valenciana was also overdone. Needless to say we were disappointed given the overall positive reviews garnered by the restaurant.

“Authentic Spanish cuisine, atmosphere, and chefs/owners!”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

My husband, who is from Spain, our daughter, and I detoured to Valparaiso on our way to Chicago as we had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while (my husband saw their billboard on I-65 between Indianapolis and Chicago). We arrived for an early dinner, but the place was busy by the time we were done. We had sangria, several tapas, and three desserts, and all of them were wonderful and what we are used to having in Spain. We particularly enjoyed the barbecued sardines! Carlos and Elena visited with us several times. We enjoyed the décor inside, and plan to return in the future to try the paella and other dishes and dine outside. It is very rare to find authentic Spanish food in the US, we are so glad we made the trip to Restaurante Don Quijote!

“Authentic”

Carlos and Elena bring the best of Spain to Valpo diners. So gracious and hospitable and the menu caters to all tastes. There is often entertainment for dining pleasure tho the food is enough to entertain your palate. Love the Sangria, too!

“Wonderful Atmosphere, Delicious Paella”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

Acoustic guitar music playing on stage enhanced our dinner experience. Individual paella was delicious, appreciated the individual serving. Sangria was blended and presented well, not too sweet, delicious! The owners were extremely friendly, making our large party feel welcomed and comfortable. A great place to linger and enjoy!
