Description: We're a local Cajun Creole restaurant. It's that simple. Yats' food is New Orleans inspired sauces that are deeply satisfying with a touch of spice. All of our dishes are served over rice, plus you get a side of our toasted Cajun buttered bread! We also offer entrees that are gluten and dairy free. The bar features several favorite bottled beers, drafts from our "Bottoms Up" tap, and three wide screen TVs. Come and hang out with your friends, your family, and other people you love! We're in the people business and we serve good food at an affordable price. Come out every Tuesday at 6pm for Tuesday Night Trivia! Win Yats Cash!

The cuisine here has diverse Cajun food that is simply exceptional. It has indoor/outdoor seating & is located next to Valparaiso University. The spicy chicken dish (drunken chicken I believe) & the sausage with beans/rice would rival anything in the French Quarter. Also, great dishes for vegetarians. Bottle & draught beer only for alcoholic beverages. They also have combo plates where you can enjoy two dishes for a small additional price. The only thing lacking is ambiance as it is nor quaint but the quality & value of the food more than make up for this. Dinner for two with draught beer around $25.00. I would rate it at 4 1/2 stars.

Great place to just hang out and get some good Cajun food and a few selections of brews. Stay awhile and enjoy life on the simple side.

We were long time fan of Yat's in Indy - so when they opened in Valpo we were thrilled. Same great food, friendly and awesome staff and quick service even when they are busy! Ask for a sample if they have something you are not sure about trying!

The service here is always stellar. The food is hot and tasty. I'm glad to see the new items introduced recently. I am hoping to see the bar area become a popular hangout with the townies. In all, I'm so glad you're here, Yats. Tip: get your dish "loaded" for .75 cents, it's well worth it.

Yats has long been a staple in the Indianapolis area, so it was interesting to see it come into Valparaiso. The atmosphere of the place is akin to a 1960s student cafeteria and you have to go to the window to order and pick up your food, making the place about as charming as studying for finals. The amount of food one gets looks a bit paltry, and yet, it's astoundingly filling and satisfying...one honestly wouldn't want more. it's as if they use rice that still expands once it gets in the stomach. As for the rice, every dish comes with it...the food is served étouffée style, meaning whatever you order is served over rice. Yet, rice does not come off as the main ingredient...the tasty topping does. If you wish to try more than one topping because you're not familiar with the cuisine, you can do a half-and-half platter for the same price. The dishes change daily and you can control the heat with a multitude of hot sauces that are placed in baskets within proximity to each table. I truly was surprised how satisfied I was upon finishing the meal, and I felt I had been taken somewhere I hadn't been before. This is a very good stop for something quick that will carry you over to whenever you eat next, no matter how long a period has to be endured before your next meal.
