We enjoyed spending our anniversary here. Everyone was friendly, and treated us like part of the family. The staff even bought us an anniversary card! We will definitely be staying again. Our room overlooked the river, and was clean and relaxing.

I love this hotel and stay there every time I come to Vevay..the staff is so friendly and helpful. When I called to make my reservation I was disappointed to find they had no vacancies and asked if they would put me on a waiting list. Luckily a room became available and they called me right away..I love the river view rooms and always feel safe there when traveling alone.

We had been here seven years ago. The location is very nice, right on the Ohio River, and it's a quiet, non-smoking hotel. The room was comfortable, with king bed, microwave oven, and fridge. It also had a patio door. The carpet in the room was dirty (nail clippings). The bathroom was nice and clean. The hotel has a nice deck where you can have a beer or even breakfast if you wish. Breakfast is included in the rate and it is a normal, basic breakfast (no hot dishes). The breakfast room is nice. It is nice to sit out on the deck and watch the barges go by. It looks like it needs some maintenance (carpets, landscaping) because it's all the same as seven years ago. It is still a nice place.

We were pleased to find the Ogle Haus on our trip along the Ohio river. It was very smart and very well priced. Both our rooms looked onto the ever and they were comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was self service and basic.

The bar and restaurant opening was very limited with no service during the first part of the week. The hotel seemed deserted yet was apparently full. It seems to serve as a cheaper option for the casino complex up the river.

Lovely location, enjoyed our stay in a strange way.

The Ogle House was quite an interesting experience. We had to be at nearby Hanover College for some family business on a Monday morning. Not able to find suitable accommodations in Madison, we selected the Ogle House, which we understand is an old Indiana hotel that had been purchased by the Belterra Resort and Casino, which is located a few miles east of Vevay. (By the way DO NOT call it Vevay, it is “Vee-Vee”.) The Ogle House was closer than the casino hotel to Hanover, so we opted to stay there. It appeared that we were the only hotel guests. There were virtually no cars in the parking lot, save a couple with Indiana tags, which we surmised were owned by hotel staff. When we made reservations, we could only select the “river view” rooms. There were no “street view” rooms available. That seemed odd, particularly considering that no one else was at the hotel. We began to think of “The Shining” or “Hotel California”! A bit later, we learned that the Ogle Haus serves as housing for the Belterra Casino Hotel employees, which is made up of many international workers. A shuttle bus transports them to and from the casino hotel. They are partitioned from the “river” side. We never saw a worker in the main lobby area or river-side. Too bad. I’d bet they would have some interesting stories to tell about their experiences in America.

The rooms are average, a bit aged but clean and comfortable. The “river” side rooms have patios with a beautiful view of the Ohio River. Skip the breakfast. Possibly the worst we’ve experienced, anywhere. If you are there on a Sunday night, good luck in finding a place for dinner. Vevay closes on Sundays. We tried several places in Madison, but Madison was also closed for Sunday. The casino restaurants are prohibitively expensive and of notoriously poor quality. We finally found a truly unique experience, the Sunset Grill in Warsaw, KY. (You can find our review under that heading.)

We did get to play a round of golf on the resort golf course. It is an outstanding design. The rough was very thick and not cut in a graduated manner. If you are three inches off the fairway, you are in U.S. Open rough. In their defense, there had been quite a bit of rain and probably could not get the mowers in the rough areas for quite a few days. The fairways, traps and greens are beautifully maintained, especially for a resort course, which are famous for having folks “out golfin’” on their holidays, tearing up a course. A special thank you to Steve, the assistant golf professional who was very accommodating to us.

We chose to stay at the Ogle Haus Inn for a girls weekend at Belterra because of the proximity to the casino and the free shuttle service to and from there. The building and lobby may have looked old fashioned, but that only added to its charm. The rooms were very updated and nice. The hotel was very clean and the staff couldn't have been more accomodating! The 24-hour shuttle service was the best part - all we had to do was let front desk staff know we were ready and the driver was there in minutes. When we were ready to return that evening we let Valet at Belterra know and the driver was there within 10 minutes to pick us back up. The deck of the hotel overlooks the river and is a great place to eat your breakfast or read a book.

All in all it was a great experience and I would definitely choose this hotel again!

My husband and I along with our children and grandson stayed here to attend my mother-in-laws funeral. Our grandson is 1 year old and we were expected to keep him perfectly quiet because people kept complaining. He was not running rampant or beating on the walls however after a 3 hour trip and several hours in a funeral home he was acting like a one year old and running around the room. He cried for less than 2 minutes while being rocked to sleep and we were told to bring him in the lobby to get him to sleep if he didn't quit crying or we would be asked to leave. I believe this is total discrimination and I would recommend remodeling so the walls are not paper thin! We too could have complained about every noise from the other rooms we just figured it is a cheap hotel so what can you expect however I never dreamed that a baby crying is enough to be kicked out of a hotel!!! Now instead of getting sleep before my husband buries his mother we will be up all night worrying we will be asked to leave if the baby cries in the middle of the night with a bad dream!!!!!! I will never stay at this hotel again.
