“A national treasure (or two)”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

This museum was amazingly beautiful when it first opened, to ceremony by the Czech, Slovakian and United States presidents in 1995. When the interior was destroyed by flood in 2008, we feared it was gone forever. Literally rising again, the building was moved to higher ground and raised even higher, and the collections are more beautiful and poignant than ever. Set in the Czech village, which is taking a little longer to come back from the flood, but New Bohemia, just across the Lion Bridge over the Cedar River, has lots of fun restaurants and shops. A must see.

“Beautiful and Interesting”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

This building was moved and totally renovated after the flood of 2008. I've attended special events in the museum and find it to be tastefully done. If you are interested in the Czech heritage of the Cedar Rapids area, this is a must see when visiting the 16th Avenue area.

This museum is well worth the visit and would highly recommend it to all. The gift shop is totally awesome too. A yearly membership for a family is only $42 and comes with several perks. The video they show of the flood and the moving of the museum is something everyone should see.
