The food was very good about what you would expect from any fine restaurant and the prices were in line with what I expected. What made this meal special and always makes a meal special is the wait staff. Brandon our server was every bit a professional and made us feel we were his only customer. Back to the food, my meal I have to admit was one I would order again. The list is growing for fine dinning restaurants in the Cedar Rapids area just hope the support will be there to keep them in business of course most of it is up to management in maintaining quality and consistency. Will be returning for an evening meal in the near future.

Thank Tom T

This former bank has some outstanding art and that really makes the place special. Unfortunately, the hard surfaces and high ceiling mean that that acoustics in the bar and on one side of restaurant make it hard to talk. It was probably better in the side that is glassed off and with the lower ceiling but we were on the other side. The wait staff was great - we changed our reservation from 4 to 7 at the last minute and they accommodated us even though they were busy. The waitress was super nice and helpful. I had the scallops appetizer as my main course and it was really good. Another in the party had the halibut and said the fish was great but the brussell sprouts were hard and inedible. Others said their meals were fine. For Cedar Rapids it is on the expensive side, but most cities would consider the prices average. It is good to have such a special place in town.

We hosted a client dinner at Popoli last week and it was wonderful. It was also my first time at the restaurant. Service was great, food was exceptional, we loved it! Thank you for making our client dinner a huge success!

We stopped in for the first time after attending an Uptown Friday Night last night. I was a bit nervous thinking we were underdressed but you are immediately welcomed and made to feel appreciated for walking in the door as soon as you arrive. We had a movie star looking waiter by the name of Jesse who not only was a ringer for Jake Gyllenhaal but so charming and helpful with his suggestions of some martinis. We tried the Chocolate Mint martini that made you swear you were eating a thin mint girl scout cookie and some sort of watermelon/lemon martini that smelled like heaven and tasted even better. We sampled some of the savory homemade breads...WOW...no other words...just WOW. Our appetizers of sea scallops and a plate of sausage and veal meatballs put us over the top. Our waiter Jesse was so attentive and came back several times to make sure we were well taken care of even though we only ordered appetizers and drinks. The food, the décor, the waitstaff...they nailed it. They know how to create a repeat customer. As a matter of fact as we were walking out some other folks who were just leaving the Uptown Friday Night event overheard us talking about how awesome the food was and asked if they should go in...YES...DEFINITELY...and they did. I would recommend this place over and over.

I've loved bank-to-restaurant conversions from Edinburgh to Melbourne to Ladora but this Louis Sullivan Jewel Box Bank is sublime. Sullivan's ceiling windows are gorgeously sublime. The scale is perfectly sublime. The word cannot be overworked. Popoli (Northern Italian) has been open 3 weeks and is extremely popular. If you can't get a reservation, arrive at opening hours: 4 pm for appetizers and drinks. The food is very good but you're here first and foremost for Sullivan's interior, one of his 8 Jewell Box Banks in the Midwest. Restored after the Flood of 2008.
