I went here most nights during my stay at the Residence Inn next door. I spent most nights in the lounge area (I'm dining alone, so doesn't make sense to be in the dining area). During the week I had a waitress (bar tender) who was amazing. The weekend I had a water/bar tender. I asked for a dry martini and blue cheese olives (something the waitress was easily able to accommodate) and was told by him, no we don't do that. Over all, decent food (as usual with longhorn).

Longhorn Steakhouse is relatively new to Coralville, and by the looks of things it is a slightly more upscale competitor to chain restaurant steakhouses like Texas Roadhouse or Lone Star. Very nicely decorated and more tasteful than the other places.

Server was nice and attentive, though tended to verbally announce everything she was doing rather than just doing it (clearing a plate, filling water, etc). This was not a big deal. There was quite a long wait for entrees, despite it not being very busy. The server did appropriately stop by to apologize for the delay. The steak was a nice cut of meat, and initially was prepared to proper temperature. However, it arrived at the table, along with the side vegetable, and the food was just warm and not hot. It tasted like it had been sitting under the lamp for awhile. So I did accept their offer to warm the plate of food and by then the steak was a bit over-cooked. My fault, I knew that would happen with further heating. To their credit, they did offer to re-make everything, but I didn't see that as necessary because it tasted good and I didn't want to wait. The flavor of the steak was quite good, though the steak was ordered with a bleu cheese crust which wasn't so --- it was basically melted bleu cheese on top and wasn't particularly good.

Staff handled the small problems well and they certainly tried to make all things right, so credit to them for that. Management offered freebie dessert but we were too full! Overall decent but not highly impressive.

Nothing great about this place other than the service, food was as good as expected with a chain restaurant.

Checked in late at the Residence Inn next door to the LongHorn. Was looking for a quick bite to eat and a cold beverage. Was very pleased when I walked in as this is a newer property and very well maintained. Wait staff has been trained very well. Started with the house salad which was a large portion and very fresh. Main was the Sierra Chicken. If your looking for a lighter meal this would be an excellent choice. The chopped tomato garnish was very tasty. Skip the Texas Roadhouse and enjoy this slightly upscale version.
