“Very neat!!”

The effort and money it took to create this place is awesome! Lots of very interesting history! It took us about 2 hours total, and cost about $8 per person (self guided tour). We would recommend it to anyone who enjoys history, architecture, and antiques.

“Oh, My!!!”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

I was totally blown away with this marvelous castle. I was fortunate to be able to take a tour and get some very good inside information about the castle and the family that built it.I attended a wedding and reception at Salisbury. What a magical place to have a wedding! Everything was just delightful. Don't miss!!!

“Very Eclectic mix of historical artifacts”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

A great way to spend 1-2 hours in Des Moines. This attraction can appeal to people of all ages from children to the elderly. The house is ornate and gorgeous . . . and the outdoor space is beautiful as well. We did the self-guided tour, but if we go back, we'd pay the extra ($7 more I think) money for a guided tour, as you get to see more of the house that way.

“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

This is a magnificent property to tour! A castle in the midwest. I can't think of a better building to tour besides the state capital. If you enjoy history, architecture, and beautiful gardens, then this is the place for you. I suggest the guided tour and a must see during Christmas. Simply wonderful.

“Fun place for a Christmas stroll”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

Salisbury House is open for Christmas season tours and well worth the visit. It is a very historic house and provides a glimpse at how others lived in years gone by.
