We stayed at the Redstone Inn for a girls weekend. Upon our arrival we went to the front desk where a phone with a note was there telling us to call. The owner came right out and got us checked in. He was friendly and He carried our bags up to our room on the 3rd floor. The room was charming and cozy however it was in desperate need of a good cleaning and updating. The shade on the window was ripped, the fake plants in wicker baskets were extremely dusty. The bathroom was large with a huge jetted tub complete with silver fish and a trail of rusty water hardened into the surface with a puddle in the middle of the tub. The corners on the floor could use a good cleaning too. The bed was comfortable and had a nice, soft and warm blanket.
All the doors to the rooms not occupied were open so we checked them out. There were some beautiful rooms but all needed a good cleaning and most needed new curtains. There was one room that the curtains were water stained and dirty. There were still push pins holding up the wallpaper in the bridal suite.
Breakfast was ok with the relatively the same egg bake consisting of eggs, onions and heavy on the pepper with meat. There was wonderful fresh fruit, assorted juices, box cereal and pastries. The coffee was wonderful and the host gracious. The dining room was cozy and the woodwork and stained glass windows beautiful but the curtains were literally falling apart.
I gave this an average review only because of the owner/host. If I were to go back to Dubuque, I would not stay there again or recommend it to others.
