I'm still in the doghouse with the wife for choosing this hotel. Really isn't a "Hotel" - more like a throwback "motel" Right on a busy freeway and intersection on the outskirts of town. Not convenient to anything. Construction made it difficult to get to. Could hear the freeway and the next door neighbors all night through the paper thin walls. Bathroom was grimy and had mold. Lobby smelled lke burning insence so thick it made my eyes water. Staff was no where to be found when needed. For just a few dollars more I could have gotten a much better room at a nicer place in Dubuque.

Room Tip: For a good room pick another hotel in Dubuque!

The room was clean. Beds were good. Didn't wake up with a backache for once. We didn't didn't like the incense that permeated through the lobby & hallway so if you have allergies, etc., it won't be a good experience for you. Breakfast was yogurt, biscuits & gravy, doughnuts from a grocery bakery, cereal, bagels & other carbs.
I did leave a note on each pillow sham in the room that the quilt over the shams were torn. It was very obvious & so the shams should have been replaced. Not rating the room lower because of this.

Room Tip: They have adjoining rooms.

Spent a night at the Econolodge on our way home from a short vacation. I had read the reviews prior to booking and the motel lived up to the reviews. Very budget friendly. The room was a nice size and very comfortable and clean. Liked that we had option for king size bed. Free parking and free WiFi are always amenities we look for. It's a bonus to also get free breakfrast. There was the option of cold cereal, toast, bagels, English muffins, waffles, or bisquits and gravy, yogurt, juice and milk. So lots of choices. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

The only suggestion - more comfortable pillows, but they weren't too bad. And the bed was comfortable.
Would stay there again if ever passing through.
Thanks

Love this property. I always stay in the Branstad suite named for the room the governor stayed in. Always clean ane the owners are so friendly and inviting. Our room had s king bed, frig, microwave and coffee pot. All worked! Breakfast consisted of waffles and biscuits and gravy. Exceptional value.

This was our third stay at this property and we were once again very impressed. This is a no frills hotel, but is clean and comfortable. Every room is decorated differently and seem to have slightly different amenities. We had two rooms this reservation. One room had one bed with no fridge or microwave and the second room had two beds with a fridge. Previously, we've had a microwave and fridge. If this matters to you, you should verify when you arrive. As in my previous review, there were a few cosmetic items "wrong" with the room (peeling wall paper border in the bathroom, a chipped corner in the bedroom) but nothing that made it horrible. The bathroom is basic but clean and functional.

We were meeting family here and brought dinner with us. The staff was very accommodating and we were able to use the breakfast area for dinner. They have coffee available around the clock and have popcorn available in the evening. The breakfast is served until 10 and is pretty basic, but well stocked.

The prices are reasonable and the rooms are fine, but what really makes this property stand out is the customer service. This is the first stay where the owner hasn't checked us in, but they were still very present on site. However, all staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. We asked for extra towels and pillows and were given them with no questions asked. We will be back again next month.

On our recent road trip to explore Iowa we checked the map and decided Dubuque would be a good central location to hang our hat for a few nights. We wanted to explore the Mississippi River settlements, check out a state park and enjoy the wonderful scenery and shops. We got to town on a Friday around dinner time and started checking hotels. The Econolodge was the only hotel that had rooms available. What a pleasant and welcome surprise! It was clean, inexpensive and comfy! It appears to be renovated. The owner/operator was very helpful and accommodating suggesting good restaurants, etc. Good breakfast in the morning. We would not hesitate to stay again and highly recommend it.

We stayed here for one Saturday night. There were some college homecomings and the Galena Country Fair in the area, and this was the only hotel in Dubuque that wasn't sold out weeks in advance (and it was sold out at least a week in advance). We had never stayed in an Econolodge, and frankly did not have high expectations, as our image of the chain was one of lower class. But our expectations were exceeded, as it turned out to be a decent stay. It's located several miles south of Dubuque, almost a rural area. But downtown Dubuque is only 5-10 minutes away, and easily accessible. We had a King Jacuzzi Room (only one available when we made reservation), and it was fine. This was by no means an upscale room, but it was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was fairly spartan, but fine for our needs. In general, the hotel is clean, the staff friendly, and it appears to be well managed. The free breakfast was average, but once again met our needs. It was a seller's market this weekend, and the rate at all of the area hotels was unusually high, so I can't say that $150 for an Econolodge room was a good value, but under normal circumstances the rate is probably reasonable and a decent value for what you get. Overall, a good choice if you're looking for a decent stay for a good value.
