We saw the many varieties of flowers, and walked around in the quiet surroundings. It was a beautiful place and worth seeing.

If you want to take a leisurely stroll or just find a spot or two to sit and enjoy the surroundings amongst a very nice (and free) garden and park in the Midwest, then please visit Marshal Park and Dubuque Arboretum. Located on what used to the be the outskirts of Dubuque, the park is large enough to not feel like a place jammed in an urban area, and as someone else said, the garden area is maintained by all volunteers, and the ladies that we've met on every visit, are very informative and pleasant. Many of the trees are labeled, and the flower and perennial sections are arranged very nicely. Since our last visit, they have finished an English garden area. When we were there on 7/19, there was a wedding, and I can see why many would want to have an event there. Visit, and you won't be disappointed. BTW, the shade area is fantastic, and if you like hostas, it has a very large variety to enjoy.

The large variety of plants and flowers within the gardens is impressive! It is well cared for, and you can tell the people who upkeep the grounds are proud of this place. It's a perfect place if you are looking to have special pictures taken (senior, wedding, engagement, family). It can be a peaceful place to read and relax.

The ladies in the center (volunteers) were extremely helpful and delightful to talk with.

Lots of trails to walk and enjoy the japanese gardens with koi pond, herb garden and rose gardens. Started with local man donating 51 acres and 8 volunters back in 1980's. Numerous volunteers help to maintain the gardens.

Well maintained gardens. Went early Sunday and had the place to ourselves. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the view. There was a playground and bathrooms by the gardens. Free admission made it even better. Tons of parking.
