After searching for a vegan/vegetarian spot to grab a bite in Dubuque, IA after hiking through the Mines of Spain, we found Jitterz Coffee shop. They had nothing vegan on the menu, but quickly told us about the BBQ tofu/tempe a block away at the The Food Store. We marched over there instantly to find a small co-op like grocery story with a kitchen up front serving sandwiches, soups and salads. The food was quite good considering what a small space given to the kitchen. Our chat with the owner/cook was also quite nice. The 5 bar stools at the window was the only eat-in dining space. If organic/alternative diet is your primary concern, come to this place. It is likely the only place catering to those diets in Dubuque.
