My family and I have stayed at many of the other hotels in the Dubuque area and we have finally found the best one. Honestly, the Hampton Inn in Dubuque is hands down the best hotel we have ever stayed in, in Dubuque (area). The service was outstanding; the breakfast was beyond our expectations (eggs, sausage, bisects and gravy, cereal, waffles, toast, rolls, dounuts, fruit, yogurt, juice, milk, coffee, tea the works! It literally saved us $40.00 a day in breakfast cost. The staff was super friendly, especially the servers (Kaleah and Jacob). The room was very clean, as was the pool area and hot tub. Like I’ve stated it was great! We will not stay anywhere else when we are in the Dubuque area!

Sincerely,

Jeff Black
Maplewood, MN

PROS: 3 elevators. LCD TVs in room. clean and well organized rooms. Newer building. Well lit and ample parking spaces. Close to everything in Dubuque, IA. There is a Target, Radioshack and HyVee grocery store in the same strip mall area as the hotel. They are within walking distance. Immediately across the hotel is the Kennedy Mall which has some stores and restaurants. You do have to drive a few more minutes to the AMC theaters. Completely smoke free and pet free.

CONS: Smallish rooms. It was appropriate enough for our needs but it does seem smaller than other Hampton Inns.

COMMENTS: the hot breakfast was sufficient; the beverage area/coffee accesible all day. The staff went the extra mile to place a microwave and mini fridge in our room which we appreciated immensely. Normally only the suites have the micro and fridge. The bed and pillows are some of the better ones we've had in hotels. This is a newer hotel and it shows.

Room Tip: Choose the topmost room facing the back to ensure peace and tranquility. Although I think any room a...

Thank you so much for your review of our hotel. We appreciate your feedback and are glad that you enjoyed so much of our hotel! Our rooms may be a little smaller then the newer Hampton Inns but hopefully the rest of the wonderful amenities and staff made up for that. Hopefully we see you the next time you come to Dubuque!

It's fine. Nothing great, nothing awful. Ok breakfast, free internet in the room, plenty of channels on the tv, fairly comfortable bed. There are lots of things nearby....Target, Hy-Vee grocery store, and a Perkins restaurant next door and a mall across the street. My room was at the end of a hallway on the bottom floor...right next to the door that led to the outside. That door banged shut a lot in the night. I would ask for a different room location next time. I would stay here again.

Thank you for your feedback on our hotel! I am sorry to hear that the entrance door was rather loud and distrupting during your stay. We will have our Maintence staff take a look and see if there is anything we can do to make it quieter. The next time you return please let us know so we can make sure your stay is perfect!

Just east of the main downtown of Dubuque but within a quick 5 min drive. Overall the normal Hampton Inn experience.

I stayed at the Hampton Inn Dubuque for a week. There are a few criticisms, but the pros definitely outnumber the cons.

LOCATION - Not close to downtown, but did not feel remote. Plenty of shopping (mall and Target), restaurants and grocery store all within close walking distance. Although the address is on a main street, it is set back quite a way so there is no traffic noise.

SERVICE - Personnel were all friendly and happy to accommodate any request.

BREAKFAST/FOOD - Although it's great that a breakfast of both hot and cold items is included with the room and the offerings change daily, the hot items weren't very good. The scrambled eggs seemed like they were dehydrated or made from a powder and the oatmeal was VERY thick. Other breakfast offerings included waffles, juices, coffee/tea, hot chocolate, muffins, bagels, bread, yogurt, and fruit. It was really nice that coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fruit (apples and bananas) and cookies were available throughout the day and night.

ROOM - Room was comfortable with good, working heater/thermostat. The comforters on the beds had to have been the lumpiest I've ever seen. They should be embarrassed to use those, as is, but the beds were still comfortable. Water pressure was alright, but almost bordered on being low. Very small closet, no safe and no refrigerator (microwave available downstairs) was disappointing.

AMENITIES - Swimming pool, fitness room and business center were all in good condition and open late enough for guests out all day to still use. Guest laundry facilities were available, but I did not use them.

Although it may seem that there were many complaints with this hotel, my stay was overall very good and I would definitely stay there again. And, the price made it definitely the best deal for your money!

We want to thank you for your very detailed response! We would like to let you know that we are looking into some of the issues you brought up. The oatmeal is a new item to our breakfast menu. We are trying to get the right consistancy of the oatmeal. The bedding we have been working on these last two months to get rid of some of the older outdated ones and replace with new. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to work on the items that you mentioned. We are glad to hear that you will be staying with us if you are ever back to the area. Thank you again!
