Sheraton Iowa City Hotel

I went to the University of Iowa a few years ago. I've always loved the pedestrian mall area in dowtown Iowa City. This hotel is nicely located in that area. The rooms are up to date, and the staff was very nice. My only complaint is that they didn't have free Internet in the rooms. It's free in the lobby, but you have to pay for it in your room. Did not try the restaurant, so I cannot comment on that. I would recommend this place, just know that Internet comes at a price.

We are so pleased to hear you had a great stay while returning to U of Iowa! There is a nominal charge for the internet services, yet we do offer the bandwidth to enable all our guests’ significant streaming abilities for all different wireless options! The fee is not specific to our location yet all Sheraton Hotels & Resorts worldwide. We will certainly let the Brand know of your pricing concern too!

We take pride in our hotel and welcome you with open arms during your next visit as well!

We stayed in this hotel due to an unforseen situation. What a great find. Staff was more than very helpful. Great pool. Rooms clean and nice. BEST BEDS we slept in in a very long time, and we travel a lot.

Was here for work during Labor Day weekend. I was concerned at getting a second floor room that overlooked the pool area, but apart from a few VERY noisy screaming children who should not have been allowed there at 11:30 pm, the walls were pretty well soundproofed. Staff was pleasant and efficient.

Room Tip: Having a window overlooking the street is better than one overlooking the pool.

The hotel itself is like any other SPG property. The staff here are really nice. The parking charges are annoying and so is the poor access to the internet if you are not sitting just so in your room. The pool area is really nice and the gym is decent. The rooms are small so if you have more than 2 people in a room, it is way too tight. Avoid staying anywhere near the elevator and definitely avoid Graduation times or else the rates are astronomical and the rooms are hard to come by. Good location and easy enough to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner at any of the fine eateries nearby.

Great location but that doesn't justify the excessive charges for internet, parking, etc. This was my second stay in the past two years. Both times, the air conditioning fan broke down in the middle of the night. Both times, the street noise was excessive and quests were yelling and slamming doors until 2 and 3 AM. The elevator waits are horrendous-- too few to accommodate so many. The staff is friendly but clearly there is a problem behind the scenes: benign neglect?

Room Tip: NOT over the ped mall

Perfect location in a great college town. Newly-remodeled rooms with super comfortable beds. Bathrooms are also nice, albeit a bit small. Your best bet for Iowa City.
