We have been back a few times after our first visit last year and the food, staff and ambiance are still superb. We tried the set menu (2 courses for £ 12) and thought it was excellent value for money. Definitely will be returning again soon!

We were en route back from Bristol to West Sussex and saw a signpost to the Anchor from the main road between Yeovil and Blandford Forum. We decided to take a chance and drove the short distance down a side road to The Anchor. We were a little apprehensive as there was some scaffolding in front of the pub erected for work being done on the thatched house opposite. But inside was great - a number of little rooms and nooks and crannies set up with tables for dinner.
We were warmly received and guided through the ciders on offer as we checked out the surprisingly interesting menu. To start us off with the drinks we orderd the naughty garlic bread (naughty - extra amount of garlic...) .
I went for the grilled sardine fillets with olive tapenade as a started (tasty but too many fish scales still) and grilled plaice fillet with skinny chips. Lovely. And as all the items we chose were available either a la carte or together as a menu we found the value to be excellent. This is how pub food should be! Great & thoroughly recommended. We had made a great choice coming here!

Went to this very nice public house for a spot of lunch. There where very busy but they found us a table very quick. The staff where very informative and helpful. The food was very good. We will go again in the future.

Visited here for Mum's birthday dinner.

Food very nice, but we all felt over-priced and service was pretty slow.

Staff however were friendly.

Unfortunately I won't be rushing back.

I visit the Anchor regularly for dinner and drinks. The staff are always very welcoming, the pub is dog friendly despite being a mainly eating pub, the food and wine is always excellent quality and the vegetarian choices are good. I would certainly recommend a visit. A great pub in a beautiful village.
