My husband and I booked for Friday night stay in March. On arrival, we were greeted by a very approachable and happy lady on reception. Although we were abit later than planned (cream teas served 3.00pm to 5.30pm) we only had to ask in the bar and we were given a lovely pot of tea, warmed homemade fruit scones, jam and a rather large dollop (!) of cream. Wonderful after a long journey and busy week at work. We then went to our room which was a lovely size with super kingsize double bed. The room was warm, light and airy with en-suite bath and shower attachment. We had dinner in the restaurant after sampling some local beer in the cosy bar. We had a fantastic 3 course dinner, served by extremely friendly and professional staff. We both had a very comfortable and quiet night's sleep. Breakfast was buffet style and was made from local produce and was extremely good. We were quite disappointed that we hadn't booked for longer and would definately recommend to everyone. We will be visiting again before too long. Thank you The Bell Inn and well done.

I am glad I didn't read the reviews prior to staying here last week, as I might not have stayed. Four of us had a two night stay with afternoon tea, evening dinner and two breakfasts. The food was very good, the restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and helpful, the first disappointment I found was the Reception staff, who, however often you passed, did not acknowledge you at all, no smile, nothing, this the front of the Hotel, if I was the owner, I would be putting these ladies on a customer relations course, as they might be ok behind the scenes, but not in the main reception area. Could I suggest the afternoon tea include perhaps one scone and a sandwich, instead of two scones per person, after traveling a long way, this would have been a better option. Our rooms were a nice size they were room 3 and room 4. We went to Winchester, Salisbury, Lymington, Lyndhurst, Very central. As I said all staff apart from Reception went out of their way to serve. A nice relaxing stay, and the weather was great.

Room Tip: Rooms 3 and 4 were quiet, quite a nice size and warm.

We booked a 1 night deal through Travelzoo for DB&B and cream tea on arrival. The deal was a real bargain so we didn't go with high expections - how wrong were we. The hotel is very appealing and the receptionist on arrival friendly and helpful. The cream tea was served in the bar area and the scones homemade. We had a standard double room on the lower floor, which was clean and tidy (yes the bathroom could do with freshining up - but everything functioned well). The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The best part of the deal for us was the 3 course meal in the restaurant. When we saw the menu choice we thought that perhaps we'd got it wrong and should be eating in the bar - but no we were in the right place. The restaurant is classed as Fine Dining and thats exactly what it is. Service excellent, food quality and choice excellent. Breakfast next day was good too. We would definately go back, but stay for 2 nights so we can explore the area more. A very enjoyable weekend.

My wife and I stayed at the Bell Inn as part of a Travel zoo deal, and like other reviews posted, were amazed at the exceptional value. The rooms were furnished to a high standard, with a nice romantic ambience which was just what we were looking for. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and could not do enough to make our stay more welcome. Customer service is obviously a quality that is valued at this hotel, as it was exemplified throughout our stay.
The evening meal was a small choice of menu, but which concentrated on delivering quality and taste. We had Scallops with a cauliflower puree, which I would be surprised if it could be surpassed in even the best London restaurants, and the main and dessert courses also did not disappoint. Overall a delightful stay and well done to all at the Bell, from the management through to all of the staff.

We also bought the Travelzoo deal - fantastic value! Although we didn't have time to have the cream tea, which I now regret.....

Rooms: We were given a double which was clean but a little down at heel, however as we paid very little I have no complaints - some of the other rooms we sneaked a peek in looked lovely. Only negatives for me were the the flat old pillows & duvet - linens were 100% cotton & good though. Good choice of teas & coffee plus yummy biscuits in room.

Restaurant: Fantastic polite service, good food - we were offered a small separate vegetarian menu. Do ask for this a sit took a bit of prompting to be provided.

Breakfast: Brilliant! Buffet style but freshly cooked in small quantities - my partner almosy gorged himself on this...

We had to checkout by 10:30 which is very early for a Sat morning for us, but it got us moving I suppose. I think this might be due to the golf club or perhaps weddings at the hotel??
