“Great Location - good accomodation and food”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

We stayed for a weekend on one of their special offers. Our room as huge, newly decorated and beautiful. We had dinner in the evening which was lovely and breakfast both days, buffet style full English. Staff were friendly, great experience!

Hotel attached to golf course if you are a keen golfer and great location for sightseeing in the New Forest.

We have just returned from the Bell Inn where we have happily eaten before as we live locally and it is convenient although on the last occasion a couple of weeks ago items we chose were not on the menu and a similar experience the time before that. The service tonight was worse than anything we have ever experienced before from any other establishment. Having waited an hour and a half for our order and survived with a bowl of olives between 3 of us - the 4th member of the party does not eat olives, we were eventually served with 3 bread rolls and what can only be described as something closely resembling a skinny dried dead finger cut in to 6 tiny segments. On questioning, the waiter, who could not have looked less interested, could not account for what it might be but thought it was the chipolatas as described on the menu, we assured him this could not be the case as we had eaten this exact same item on our last visit and there was no resemblance whatsoever. He duly decided he needed to visit the chef to discover. A very dozy waitress finally emerged to say that it was complimentary whilst the chef tried to find some chipolatas which we had ordered as a starter and hour and a half previously. We enquired how much longer our main courses would be - 2 Fish and Chips, 1 Spring Roll and 1 Burger so not exactly tricky to produce - to which again she needed to visit the kitchen to enquire. We finally decided that as the chef would be still fully occupied with searching for chipolatas we were not prepared to wait any longer whilst he also looked for fish and so left. I should also say that the same items which were off the menu two weeks ago were also off the menu tonight so it would appear that items are appearing which are not actually available. This whole sorry episode wasted 2 hours of our evening and left us all still needing to find a meal at 9:00pm with all other places having stopped serving. The purpose of going out to eat this evening had been to save time and effort on our part, now we have returned home and have just started cooking for a family of 4 at 9:18pm. I have never left a review of anywhere before but the service has been so appalling that I felt other diners needed to be warned. Place looks great but staff could not have given a hoot tonight. We would not recommend.

Stayed her in order to attend a Funeral. Seems odd to say that we enjoyed our stay in light of why we there but we did. Room was a small double but perfectly adequate. No internal noise but the Thursday night proved noisy due to traffic on the road. Friday was quieter. Had to keep the window open because it was hot. Maybe a room on the other side was quieter.
breakfasts are buffet style so often bacon is dried up and it was. Sausages on the second day were lovely. Evening meal was ok but more in keeping with a special occasion.
Shower was great and the bar had a good selection. However the big selling point for us was the staff. They were superb. Every one we met was lovely. It's been a long time since everyone on a staff was so helpful. we would go back simply because of them.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the rear but you miss seeing the ponies and the cows pass your window

Service was ultra slow at bar, served up a very watery orange squash instead of orange juice, served other customers in between taking order. Never had so much bad service, although when food was served by waiter he apologised that we wouldn't all get our food together because Chef was busy dealing with a near empty hotel?

Just come back after an overnight stay at this hotel,to celebrate our friends birthday's.
The staff were very helpful and attentive, always smiling, which always help, breakfast this morning was simple but well presented, and once again you couldn't fault the staff.
And the room we were allocated was outstanding, clean to the highest standard I've ever seen.
Set in a beautiful part of the country,I would certainly recommend this hotel to anybody.

Stopped here for Sunday lunch which we took in the restaurant. My wife and I had soup and scotch egg for starters followed by roast beef and the fish and chips. We both thought the food was excellent and will certainly go back. The staff were lovely as well. We did hear a few moans from other diners about waiting for their bill but to be fair some people always find something to moan about!

My husband and myself stayed at the Bell for three night's,we had a loft room which was very nice. We had a large bathroom but the bath had seen better days, could do with a new one but it was very clean and we had fresh towels everyday without asking for them. We had a very large bed that was very comfortable. When it came to breakfast we did have a laugh as they did not seem to be on top of the cooking, it was a help yourself and some people had helped them self more than they should so it left a few of us waiting for things to be cooked. I think they would do better to go back to taking your order at the table as we do in our small hotel. It was very nice to stay in the forest we did enjoy it very quite at night which we had wanted. We have booked another stay at the Bell later in the year. It is very good for the money very clean and tidy just need to look at the breakfast side of things. The staff were very helpful at all times would recommend this place. We will be visiting again and again when we come up to visit family in the future.
