There are not that many places you can stay in the New Forest with a dog - even a well- behaved one - apart from campsites. But this is a very nice exception.
We stayed 2 nights, whilst I did a pottery course - that is also great, but rather a drive away.
Our room was very nice and on the ground floor which I gather is true of all dog-friendly rooms. It had a great, comfy bed but was not a large room - fine for us (3) but if you had a big dog, it might be more of a squish.
So, the bar and dinning area and lounge are really nice. Everyone is happy to give great service. The food was very good.
There is a road outside which is busy for the morning and evening rush hour but we slept in a road facing room with the window open, and no traffic disturbed our very good night's sleep.
Again, for dog owners, the only bin to dispose of poo bags is behind a gate saying no entry at the end of the car park and they really could do with a usual dog poo disposal bin in the car park.
The hotel is across the car park from Hampshire's oldest golf course so there are lots of people staying, golfing, staying, eating, golfing etc etc and/but, I would happily go there again.More
