Description: The Green Dragon dates from the 15th century. It was originally premises for a wheelwright and a coffin maker, then became a beer house some 200 years ago. Set in a delightful rural setting, the pub overlooks a stream which is spanned by a humped-backed bridge. During the summer months ponies and donkeys can be seen shading on the forecourt of the Inn. The Pub displays a number of 'bends' of leather, which bear imprints of hot iron brands. These brands represent owners of animals who have commoners rights to allow their livestock to graze on New Forest Land. To the rear of the pub is a small patio area that leads to our garden, which is a wonderful place to sit and relax in the summer. Why not come in and enjoy a pint of one of our four cask ales? These ales change all the time so keep an eye out for your favourites. We are a dog friendly pub although we do ask that you keep them on leads at all times. We do not allow dogs in the restaurant, this keeps one part of the pub a dog free area.

Visited The Green Dragon (actually my 3rd visit) for a birthday meal with friends. As always the food was very well prepared, cooked and was presented on hot plates. There is a varied menu and every item that I have eaten there was vey good. Taking a Group back there in October.

Almost cancelled because of the number of recent bad reviews, however, really glad we didn't. The food was great and great family friendly atmosphere.

Three of us adults had lunch here on the 8th April, never having been before, nor having read any review. We all had a different main course, steak, stroganoff and sea bass, and settled down with excellent beers and cider, anticipating quite a wait as it was busy. What a surprise! Three superbly generous meals arrived very promptly, all freshly cooked and with plenty of vegetables and chips included. My rib-eye steak was cooked exactly as I requested and was probably the best I have had, whilst the amount of veal in the stroganoff was almost too much, but delicious. Mother meanwhile was tucking into her sea bass and enjoying the accompanying mussels with relish. Our only regret was that not one of us had room for any of the wonderful-looking desserts. I can only say that the previous three reviewers must have been very unlucky in their timing. This is definitely a place we'd go to again if we are in the area.

The outside of the pub is lovely which encouraged is to go in. Unfortunately the bar was full of local people who didn't move to let us order a drink. There is no table
Service so we ordered our meal at the bar. I had beef and mushroom casserole but it should have been called mushroom casserole as there was only mushrooms in it! Staff seem overworked and miserable. No conversation. Shame this place could be so good.
